I was at a dressmaking school and everyone was telling me I didn’t belong there. They would yell at me for making dresses because that was their assignment, not mine (it was mine too) and I woke up crying. :(
"The Mourning of a Perfectionist"
My mourning dress, handmade by me, in honor of my mother. She isn't dead, she just fucking hates me now.
My mother was a fierce seamstress who couldn't utter the words "I'm sorry", so she replaced them with clothes. "This is an apology for your childhood" she said to me as she handed me my prom dress.
Nothing was ever quite up to her standards..including me. I've never given sewing a chance because I figured I could never be as good as my mom..but since she is no longer around, maybe I can Frankenstein my own apology with this coffin dress.
I'm sorry mom didn't know what love is. You are perfect just the way you are.
Thank you to everyone for all your kind words on my handmade wedding dress post! Tumblr wouldn't let me add a video to a reblog (also it got marked mature??) so here is a whole new post to show off how sparkly it was--which I don't think really came through in still photos.
If you're new here: I fully drafted and sewed this at home, with my own two hands! There are more photos of it and details in the previous post. Here's another still shot, too (don't look at my sewing room 💀):

It was a post about trousers, I think from somewhere East Asian, that did a sort of wrap around tied shut thing a bit like 18th century petticoats historybounders like. Possibly began with an m.
I have thoroughly tidied my bookmarks app and sideblog and no luck.
Can anyone picture the post I mean and think of any other keywords I can use?
