dragonhideboot replied to your post “We crossed seven bridges to get here we hope you’re happy.”
Seven is supposed to be a lucky number right?
So we’ve been led to believe. Someday we should test the theory.
(Tenna would have you know that any number of bridges is unacceptable, lucky or not.)
How do you discover new music? One of the things I'm digging about reSWAN is finding new stuff to listen to!
Man, so many places. Places songs have come from:
My parents had me pretty young (20 and 19), so I know all the music they played in their 20s. My dad is responsible for all the Peter Schilling songs in SWAN. He loved the apocalyptic German 80s stuff.
Tiny Tunes and Kablam airing music videos for songs by They Might Be Giants is how I found them.
When I was in highschool, it was all from fucking Anime Music Videos and stuff. I’d watch any random shit back then because it was available, pretty much. If it said it was from a show I liked, I just watched it. Doing that landed me a song from a 90s Spanish pop group, some Elton John, and a lot of J-pop.
I also used to google what were the most popular songs in other countries and then download the songs. I got “Augen Auf” that way, because I had to do a report in my German class my senior year in highschool, haha.
And then I would listen to online radio stations based on the stuff I found.
“Little Things of Venom” was featured in a surreal 3D ride/movie I experienced in Las Vegas which was about a dude named Johnny. I became obsessed with it and wrote all the lyrics I could remember and googled until I found it when I got home. I got a lot of music from movie soundtracks or from tracking them down obsessively like this song.
I met friends who sent me things, which is really where a lot of stuff has come from, and then I’d track down more of it or find other things that were similar. I ended up with the Birthday Massacre because of Cherry Doom, the JTHM slash group on Yahoo a million years ago.
I got a ton of music from that group. It used to be that we were like ‘Yeah, this song reminds me of xyz, totally’, and then we dropped the pretense entirely and were just like, ‘lol, this song’.
I have a few songs that were mislabeled when I was downloading them from dubious sources back in the day, and those have become things that I found other artists from.
At some point, a friend sent me a song that had been part of the Eurovision song contest, and I started finding all sorts of things from across the world by tracing artists I liked around. I listened to things on last.fm and similar shit.
My brother has similar tastes and will send me random things he knows are in my section of our venn diagram of tastes. He’s why I have Creature Feature. He goes to a lot of concerts and finds cool opening acts and things and then reports back to me when something sounds like shit I’d like.
When I worked in a Macy’s in Portland, they used to play really awesome shit in the junior’s section and I got a lot of artists I really liked during the course of my job there.
Songs other people used in song fics, haha.
I listen to a really quality public radio station here that has played a lot of the shit I’ve loved recently. Me and the Shazam app are best friends when I have that radio on. They’re having their fall fund raiser now, I should probably donate. I think they’ve contributed at least two songs to reSWAN so far, though neither of them are in the published stuff yet.
Accidentally letting YouTube just keep going to the ‘next’ video until suddenly something really awesome is playing.
I buy music from Amazon and use its music app on my phone at work, so it has recommended me a lot of good things as a result.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I’m enjoying adding so much more music to it this time around~ It feels appropriate.
What's your Favorite Halloween treat? Do you prefer actual scary Halloween stuff or the cutesy things?
I like whatever shape Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are in this time of year. Pumpkins, maybe? Bats? I have no idea, but seasonal Reese’s are my shit. They were also what I liked getting when I went Trick or Treating. That and Sour Patch Kids, which are pretty much my favorite candy.
I like a good light hybrid? Heavily leaning toward one side, though. I prefer things scarier, darker, and weirder on the whole, but as we all know, I also fucking love glitter, so. I like the cats, bats, spiders and skull motifs best. Trees, unnatural human shapes. Sharp teeth on Jack O Lanters. Generally not excited about anything Hallmark puts out around this time of year, hahaha. It’s all too cutsey for me. It’s all like ... country mom Halloween.
But if I can put some glitter on some twisted sharp-toothed person/bat anatomical horror show? A+

I suppose it would be too much for me to hope it’s something cute/friendly
The odds of it being cute are pretty good, actually. A squirrel or a mouse or some shit. Friendly not so much.

It’s one of the many reasons I like your work :D
Hahaha, thank you! I used to keep my violent or creepy shit away from my rainbows, but now my art makes me happier with both of them at once!
Such a boggling things to say. If someone likes something why try to purposefully make them upset? I'm kind of evilly hoping your cheery attitude aggravates her like itchy itchy wool.
oh it does! so, i make a point tht when she’s being rude, i smile as big as possible and make my voice extra sing-songy!lol!
Not a question just want to send you a big I <3 ZAZA. Hope you have a fantastic day and get to go to bed early to make up that sleep!
