Had an idea for an OC game which I thought could be fun, let's see if this works....
Rules: List out 2-4 of your OCs (or more or less I'm not the police), and for each one, include some important themes/traits, as well as a genre or vibe of music. People can send in an ask with songs that they think might fit the character, and you can reply with how well they actually fit. Mostly just a way to get some new music for your guys and have fun throwing around song recommendations :)
Here are my guys, I guess this is also something of a character introduction even though a lot of this is still subject to change and these are still only placeholder names rip :')
Mats is the main character of the story, originally born into a royal family, whose kingdom is plunged into chaos as unrest breaks out around rumors that the mythical Dragon King, considered to be a quasi-savior figure who will bring peace and prosperity, is returning. Mats - who has seen a vision that the Dragon King is him - accidentally murders the prince of a neighboring kingdom, who he is arranged to marry, and runs away with his childhood best friend, Ander, the son of his nursemaid. As unrest grows, Mats finds that there are even worse forces at war within him, and becoming the Dragon King may make him into something more terrible than he could imagine - but also something which he cannot resist.
Themes: overambitious, losing control of yourself, feeling of becoming a monster, realizing you're in too deep but not being able to escape
Genre: alt-rock and adjacent
Ander, the illegitimate son of a farmer's daughter who ran away from home to escape the stigma of her pregnancy, has grown up between worlds - between his mother's homeland in the west and the kingdom that he's always called home; between life in the palace, where his mother was nursemaid and now works in the kitchen, and the rough streets of the surrounding city; and between identities as a street fighter and a young gay man. When his best friend Mats asks him to run away with him, he's glad to acquiesce, looking forward to an escape from a life that feels increasingly restrictive. But strange things are afoot, and Mats is at the center of them, pulling Ander into a war which will change them both for better and worse.
Themes: stuck in the middle, not being sure who you are, standing your ground but not about the things that really matter, deceptive confidence
Genre: pop, urban, R&B
Hamide is a girl from the far south of the continent, a frozen tundra far from the world that Mats and Ander have grown up in but swiftly being pulled into its orbit by ever-increasing incursions. Hamide, inspired by the stories told to her by her grandmother, runs away from home to join a pack of wolves and recover the art of wolf-singing, an old form of prophesizing which has largely become extinct. As the prophecies come clearer to her, she realizes that the Dragon King is set to return, and she heads north to find the boy who she's seen in her visions and put him on the right path - but the difficulty of reading prophecies is nothing compared to the difficulty of making others understand what they mean.
Traits: she's a weird and offputting and slightly intimidating and definitely determined girl (strange girl mixing potions on the playground energy)
Genre: folk, folktronica, experimental
Adan's family has lived between mountain and steppe peacefully for generations, tending their livestock and working the land for a living. But this existence is put into danger as the neighboring kingdoms to the north begin to invade the steppes, trying to find an outlet for their increasing instability. As life turns upside-down, Adan struggles to cling to the world that she grew up in, and tries to stand her ground, but in a continent in unheaval, that may be harder than it sounds.
Traits: easygoing and teasing, full of love for life, fear of change, stubborn (still trying to nail her character but this'll do for now)
Genre: anything danceable, right now it's got a lot of desert rock (Tinariwen/Imarhan/Bombino/etc)
