Reunion
Pulling her cell phone out of her pocket she stared at the screen as the unknown number kept calling her repeatedly. It had been the same number for 3 days that had been calling her. Who the hell wanted to talk to her that badly? Finally deciding to answer the phone she figured it couldn’t hurt to find out. “Hello?” The female voice on the other end of the phone seemed annoyed that it had taken so long for her to answer the call. “Well it’s about time! You know keeping someone waiting who has a lot to offer is not the way to get your break, kid!” What a way to start a conversation when they didn’t even know who she was. “And yelling at someone you don’t even know is not the way to start a conversation about anything. What offer and break into what?” She had a million questions running through her head but those were the most obvious questions that she needed answered along with one more. “And who the fuck are you anyway? You’ve been calling my phone for 3 days and this is how you open up the conversation when I finally answer?” The voice on the other end had gone silent and she almost thought that they had hung up. “He was right about you… hard as nails and you don’t dance around getting your point across. This is exactly what you need to be to make it in this business.” Fully getting annoyed that she still was not getting any answers Hydra yelled into the phone this time to. “WHO are you! You seem to know me it’d be nice to know who the fuck I’m talking to about business!” The mild laughter on the other side of the phone was beginning to piss Hydra off more than she could even put into words. “You want to wrestle in the big leagues don’t you, kid?” At that question Hydra put it together and her heart about dropped as she realized she had just yelled at her future boss. But hell they still hadn’t told her who THEY were so she really couldn’t be blamed. “More than anything, these damn indie companies are boring with their lackluster promotions and lack of actual talent. I’m never going to get anywhere if I stay with them much longer. I needed a challenge so bad I even entered some MMA fights just to keep my skills sharp.” Hydra couldn’t hide her irritation with the lack of true competition in the ring that she had been facing going from one indie promotion to another. They sucked, but wrestling on a regular basis was the only way to get noticed. “Well then you’re in luck. Our scouts reported back to us and told us you were deserving of a shot and had the potential to grow if you ever faced off with some hard core challengers.” Hearing that Hydra couldn’t help bragging a little about her own abilities. “Put someone in front of me that’s an actual challenge and I’ll make every penny you spend on me worth it.” The mild laughter on the other end took on a more serious tone. “Now that’s what I like to hear. Pack your bags and be on the next flight here and we’ll see what you’ve got. I’ll text you the information of where you need to go and who to talk to. See you soon.” With that the call ended and Hydra stared at her phone barely able to believe what just happened. As the text popped up on her phone her heart stopped. She was being pulled up to the main roster and on her way to getting her debut in the big leagues. She shook her head slightly to make sure it was real and she wasn’t dreaming.
Deciding to waste no time she called the airport to book a flight and then set to packing her suitcase so that she could head out immediately. As she was packing another thought hit her and she wondered why she hadn’t thought about it sooner. She was going to run into him sooner or later she knew that. There were only just so many primary wrestling companies and odds are that he would be there. She looked at her phone laying on her bed next to her suitcase… Should she attempt to reach out to him and let him know she was coming? That she had finally made it? That she had done it on her own exactly as she had wanted to without his help? That was the whole reason she had left home after all. She was tired of the fights day in and day out ever since her mother had left. When she turned 16 it had just been one fight too many and after a particularly violent fight where she had vented a lot of her anger at him she left too. She had made the decision to leave all that behind to make her own path and forge her own legacy without his help because she didn’t want everyone thinking she was just another name in the family who stepped into the ring. She was tired of living in his shadow of expectations. She wanted it to mean something when she stepped out there and she wanted people to know HER for who she was and that she had busted her ass to get where she was on her own merit. That she had achieved it not because of her name and not because people felt it was handed to her, but because she had shown them her true abilities. Deciding not to reach out to him Hydra continued packing. She was probably going to see him soon enough anyway. Suddenly the 6 years since she left home didn’t seem so long at all. What would he do when they came face to face again?
With her bags finally packed Hydra headed out the door to catch her flight that she had booked and was leaving in a couple of hours. She didn’t know what was going to happen going forward, but whatever happened it was bound to be better than where she was and that was enough to keep her excited for the entire trip. It was only about a 2 hour flight so the fact that her adrenaline was pumping helped keep her focused on what was coming.

So, thou art come before me at last!
I am the Dragonlord! Master of Masters, and King of Kings!
Long have I awaited this moment. Come, take thy rightful place at my side!
Do so, and I will grant unto thee dominion over half this world!
What say’st thou? Wilt thou rule beside me?
