Hi, Mary! This is just as an FYI - the book depository is owned by Amazon, and it has been revealed to me, through a short and fast research on google, that Amazon is the root of all evil when it comes to books and publishing. A good alternative is awesomebooks - they have really cheap used books, as well as new. But obviously you're free to make your own choice, just make sure it's an informed one! I've actually heard about this, but thank you so much for sending this :) I'll check out awesomebooks, thank you for recommending it! I should have mentioned that I usually give priority to a national online bookstore while ordering my books, but for international orders, I've always leaned towards BD.

There is talk about how Harper Lee is possibly being taken advantage of with Go Set a Watchman. Personally, I'm inclined to agree - Harper Lee has always been very private and as a lawyer her sister has always protected her from unwanted attention - and 3 months after Alice's death, suddenly a manuscript is discovered, one that Harper Lee herself didn't want published so many years ago? It all seems a bit fishy to me. What do you think?

Yeah I don't know how I feel about it either. I do think that if Harper Lee didn't want it published 100% then she would do something to stop it. None of us know what is going on with Harper Lee. She may just want it published. I still pre-ordered it but if it's confirmed that she didn't authorize anything then obviously I'm going to get rid of it, but for right now I'm just excited that Harper Lee's voice is getting out there again.

It does seem fishy but, again, none of us know. I don't want to waste hours of my time speculating something that I'm never going to know the answer to unless Harper Lee herself comes out and announces it

Hi, Mary! This is for the anon who is feeling very tired for no apparent reason. Depression could be the cause, but it could also be something physical, like an iron deficiency, which would make them feel tired, thus making them feel depressed, thus making them feel tired. It's a vicious circle. Before going to an expensive therapist, they should think about getting a blood test, and maybe start taking some vitamins daily (cod liver oil is pretty good.)

I'd really like to be able to write books for a living someday, and/or work in a bookshop. The thing is that I haven't really been to college or university (I'm 20 now) so I'm thinking of taking a 9-week course called Introduction to Creative Writing. Are this kind of classes usually worth it? Is it going to help me improve my writing at all? Also, do you know if it's possible to find a job in a bookshop without a degree? I'm starting volunteer library work in a few days, but can that be enough?

I think taking a course in creative writing is a good way to start! But I'm not a writer, nor have I ever wanted to be one, so I'm not the best one to give advice.

It should be possible to find a job in a bookstore without a degree, I know its here, but having other work experiences, like from another retail store or a grocery store is always a good thing. In my case work experience beats education. Which sort of sucks when/if you don't have it.

Volunteering at a library is a good start, because you'll get a reference contact and some experience with literature and stuff! Also YAY LIBRARY!

However if you want more advice on writing and what to do other than reading and writing and editing and reading and writing and editing and reading and writing and editing, you should possibly talk to chronicintrovert(author of Solitaire, a really wonderful novel) or write-me-jessica or bookmad? I'm sorry I can't help anymore than that! Any other writers out there feel free to help our little friend out :)
