Kamal/Komal is based off a Koala and a bunny...but he has regular homosapien ears. I tried to make Boris/Berris into a bear but the tail just made him look like a lion so I went with it 😆 Yes, he took testosterone, yes his mane is out. Its too darned fluffy for him. I made the color schemes different to make 'em more UNIQUE, you know?
You know what's weird? These two are doppelgangers, exact afterlife copies of Dr Habit and Kamal from another universe. One could say they...reincarnated...after certain untimely events. ☹️

There are many earthling soul clones running about Drain, almost no soul in drain is original, they are by definition, a parallel earth. It's very difficult to ascend to the final stage of heaven, so you live another life, not as a ghost, but as a being of nearly eternal reincarnation. You forget your old life all the same, but you stay a drain person for a very long time. Its like...a strange supernatural life.
New drain life happens when the mortal soul has unfinished business and usually not enough soul strength to be heavenbound. Drain manifested at the same time as the grove, but at the time, it was just another part of the grove.
Okay, okay! I think there's many many different factions and anthro races in Drain. Some have humanoid ears...BUT others have more traditional animal ears. And they come in all different colors, but one thing's consistent: Drainfolk are all rather short, durable, and naturally always have more fat than earthling mortals. Some have higher metabolisms, but you will almost never see them as slender as earth-bound homo sapiens.
If drainfolk ever become skinny like earthlings, its critical condition!
I think the classic sqaurish green Bizzyboys are all a certian race of Drain folk/drain dwellers; but there are many many varieties of Drainfolk in different villages and towns. Its like Animal crossing/Magicians Quest but more eldritch and all anthro based. I want to make short and green Bizzyboy Habismal too but that's for another time. x3
That in mind, I'd say many areas of Drain are quite peaceful but the ones closest to the surface are gatekept by power hungry deities. They don't want people leaving because they're hoarding magic...aka the Drain's source of wealth. It's definitely not divine magic anymore, but it's one that the Drain realm developed their own as mortals.
