Author’s note: Well finally in a space to write this Crimes of Passion fic that I have wanted to write since the end of book 2.
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
It had been a whirlwind of a week. The Heir Equity Act passing Drakovian Parliament, finding out that Lydia is also illegitimate, but more importantly, Juliana’s murder had been solved. I had no idea that Vasili had the feelings he had. I knew Bas was upset when she had ended things with him but I had no idea that Vasili had the feelings he had. I knew he wanted to see the act pass, which it now had but I did not think he was the type to resort to what he did. His vindictiveness and jealousy leading to the Machiavellian journey he took to end up as heir but he gambled and lost. I had the option to kill him but it felt like an easy way out for him and I was not going to let him off easy. He deserved to suffer as I have had since Juliana’s death.
Personally, as much as I was relieved to finally have closure on a dark chapter of my life, I was also at a crossroads. I had become unexiled and was expected to take up my birthright, the Queen of Drakovia. It was something that I begrudgingly accepted as I was younger but after tasting freedom, I knew I did not want to go back. Many of my reasons were related to Aaliyah. I have fallen for her hard, this much I knew and I wanted to explore us. I had also enjoyed working with the detective agency. I had found true friendship with Luke and Ruby and also a chosen family that I did not realize I needed until I had it.
It was the night before my coronation although I was hoping to hear from a legislative lawyer. I knew I could not be the queen that Drakovia needed and I knew that Aaliyah would eventually resent the life of being my consort. I also did not want children and I knew there would be pressure to procreate as soon as possible.
Despite being physically sated and somewhat at ease given that Aaliyah was next to me, I was still awake with many thoughts going through my brain.
Eventually I settle into a light sleep.
I wake and Aaliyah is already gone, she had left a note stating she was off getting ready. I get dressed alone. Then I receive an alert. It was from the Constitutional Lawyer. It was the news I was hoping for. The Act did indeed not only cover illegitimate children of the King but also any illegitimate children of the Queen. I knew that Lydia did miss her role in the Royal guard but I knew she loved Drakovia with all her being and I knew she would be the leader Drakovia deserved. I knew it was too late to make the processional changes but I knew what I had to do. Announce that I would not be the Queen and crown Lydia. It would be dramatic, I knew but it had to be done.
The time for the coronation came. It was all the pomp and circumstance one would expect from a Coronation. I could see my chosen family and the mixed emotion from Aaliyah. I did not even have a chance to tell her what was happening. The crowning part was close. I was sitting on what was to be Lydia’s throne. I said the words that were expected and then I was to be crowned. Instead of the crown going on my head, I grabbed it and stood up. There was a collective gasp throughout the whole cathedral.
“Drakovia does not need me. I know I was exiled for a crime that I did not commit, however the exile gave me time to reflect and I am not the leader that Drakovia needs.”
I move to put the crown on Lydia’s head.
“Drakovia, I present to you Queen Lydia Thorne.”
I could tell she was surprised but seemed appreciative.
“I know you have loved being back in the royal guard but you are the leader Drakovia deserves.” Whispered Trystan.
The day ended and Aaliyah was a tumult of emotions. She knew that Trystan did not want to be Queen and she was happy for Lydia but she did not know where to from here. She had not been able to talk to Trystan and now she was headed to the airport to head back to New York.
Meanwhile Trystan managed to sneak away to speak to Juliana at her palace memorial.
“It passed Juli, finally and now I have closure on your death. Under Lydia I am sure Drakovia will be a Drakovia you would be proud of. I surprised myself and fell in love again. You would love Aaliyah too. She, like you has brought the best out in me. A part of me will always love you, Juli.”
Trystan left flowers and made her way to the airport, hoping she was not too late. The plane was still on the tarmac and I run towards it. I call out as I get closer, hopeful that me making a spectacle will be noticed. It thankfully is the plane door is opened. Aaliyah is there and I ascend the stairs, we embrace and kiss.
“I love you Aaliyah. I am coming back with you.”
We kiss and enter the plane, heading back to New York to continue our story.

Authors note: I have only wanted to write this one for several months. As we know in Canon it was only Vasili that had a relationship with Juliana but since I had a fic where she had a relationship with Sebastian, I have kept that as my head canon.
Thank you for reading
