Me, as a student, in my high school drama class, dealing with the admittedly very beautiful and elf-like Suzanne who everyone said was going places because she was admittedly very beautiful and elf-like. (Mr Nolan, for some bizarre reason, thought we should work together.)
Me: “So, I find Shakespeare overrated. I prefer Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller. Would you like to do a monologue from The Crucible? Abigail’s one?”
*Her* “I know who this Shakespeare person is. But who are the other two?”
Then she acted out Blanche Dubois in front on me.
I was nice. I was polite.
But I shall never speak of it again, you understand.
Even though her hideous attempts at a southern accent still haunt my dreams.
