Timing is Everything
Hello internet-world! It’s been a while since my last rant, and as much as I want to stick to a commitment with posting regularly, but I’m not sure I could actually do it. Anywho, recently I’ve been through a really tough time with life. Short of letting the cat out of the bag, let’s just say I should have stuck to “Love all. Trust a few. Do harm to no one.” However, due to the funny way life works, I’ve been blessed more than 10 times over despite the crappy (which is putting it mildly) circumstances I have had to come to face.
Getting back on topic, a very special someone in my life has been picking my brain, and so many things we’ve been talking about really makes me expand my way of thinking. The best part is, my brain finally feels optimized (I’ll get back to that in a split sec). One of the things that has made me think about how things happened to get me where I am right now. Some people call it fate, some people call it destiny, and others call it luck. If you really think about it, no matter what your situation, if you have the means to read this, you should see your life as blessed.
Let’s take a second to think about this, in terms of my life. Your life could have certain similarities but of course, it won’t be completely the same. We’ll start from the very beginning, the circumstances you (or I) were born into. You could have very well been born in a third-world country, or into complete poverty-ridden sector of India where getting out of it would have been next to impossible, but I was born to two very hard-working, intelligent, dedicated and loving parents. I grew up in a complete family, which is more than I can say about what seems to be half the kids here in the states. I was put into a vigorous, competitive education system (in Asia), and my parents expected excellence (at least that was my perception of it). So from the get-go, I was raised with the knowledge that I have to work hard to achieve my goals and dreams. Of course, things were not all rainbows and unicorns. I am a middle-child, and honestly, the wild child of my family. I got into my fair share of trouble, I lashed out, I rebelled, and I lived life like I created the rules. Despite all that, even through some unpleasant and painful experiences, I pushed through and I came out stronger on the other end, I have more than less of the time. At the same time I went through the normal teen stuff: heartbreak, low self-image and all. But I found my balance, and even though it took me a long time to get over heartbreak, I managed. Following that, I went to college, which put me on a totally different standpoint, geographically speaking. I would say that it was in college that I really found the person I am, and through the obstacles and tough times, it molded and refined the way I looked at the different things in life. So, AAAAAALLLLLLL that crazy stuff in this meager paragraph sums up how my life has been shaped. Circumstances, choices made, opportunities that opened to me, my upbringing and background, along with the obstacles I had to get through all made me the lady I am now and got me to where I am right now.
So in a sense, timing is everything. I am just really blessed to be me, and I wouldn’t trade my life for any other’s.
Which brings me to the screwed up crap I watched on TV today. A 11-year-old got pregnant by a 13-year-old, and these kids’ parents were just pushing the blame here and there, saying this and that, not one of them seemed to be there (on Dr. Phil) to find a way to deal with the situation life has plonked on all of their laps, but no... of course not, That would be too responsible. The thing is, it all has to do with both party’s parenting, or the lack thereof. It’s only normal that none of them would find fault in themselves, but seriously, it’s pretty weak sauce to be arguing about custody of their newborn grandchild when they can’t even get their own children straight. And the girl who gave birth at the age of 12, she’s freaking insane, which I would say is no fault of hers, it’s bad parenting and a broken home. This is one of the things in life that make me thankful for the circumstances I have been born into and the life I have been living.
Having said that, I am very happy to be with that very special someone right now, because I’m being challenged to think more in depth than I’ve had to with anyone else. My brain feels fully utilized and my soul feels calm whenever we spend time together, which is awesome, because when I’m typically interacting or communicating with other people I only need to use maybe half my brain to talk about things being spit out by their brain. My brain has basically been “dumbed-down”, so to speak, in order to socialize with them. As in, my brain doesn’t have to be fully lit-up to carry a full conversation, because things that tend to come up in conversations are like, spitting out useless nonsense talk because it’s not that hard for me. And I’ve always thought that I have to be the one making the sacrifices in a relationship to make things work, to be putting everything I am and everything I can into a relationship, which is good because I would never have to regret not giving my all. But I’ve never felt like I have someone who would do the same for me, until now. I can honestly say that I have never been treated like a queen as much as now, and never felt as appreciated for just being me. Everything feels pretty awesome, despite the hiccups of life.
So until I find something to rant about next time.
