The atmosphere of the celebration happening was infectious, putting an extra bounce in Evie’s steps as she moved around people, glad that she’d braided her extremely long hair back before braving the crowds in the streets. She had a cloth-wrapped box that she was hugging to her chest as she tried to find a map of the festivities, to find the booth she was searching for.
Her attempts at cooking were... better but certainly nowhere near where she’d feel comfortable with letting someone else eat her attempts. Eric, bless him, had certainly tried his hardest to help teach her after the both of them had moved out here, but he’d ended up cooking all their meals instead and making her focus on her studies. His girlfriend -now wife- hadn’t been much more successful, somehow ending up also cooking meals and shooing Evie out of the kitchen despite having originally meant to be teaching the young woman.
So no, her cooking still wasn’t the best.
But her knife skills were amazing.
And so Evie had woken up fairly early to cut up some fresh fruit into fun shapes. Like, not just making vague likenesses, she literally carved slices of apples into rabbits with an exacto knife. There were a couple other animals and varied fruits in the box she carried carefully.
Her neighbor and friend had told her that he would be helping out at one of the booths at this celebration, so she’d wanted to show him some support with a lunchbox. Evie had to settle for carved fruit since she figured it would be easier to eat and she didn’t know how busy Ren would be. Perhaps a simple sandwich could work for her next attempt?
She had finally managed to locate a flier with a map on it and make her way to the Suit & Ties booth, her pink eyes finding her friend fairly quickly.
Evie waited quietly for a couple to finish paying for the things they’d ordered before she moved forward to greet the man, holding out the wrapped lunchbox with a small sweet smile.
“I brought this for you.”
It was a wonder that she could be heard over the noise and bustle of the event honestly.
