So I'm on a peony kick at the moment, figuring out I don't completely suck I decided to make a few peony templates just for my own reference and experimenting with composition. It's so much fun! These small cards are slightly bigger then A6 with a gold guilded boarder, I wanted to keep this as illustrated as possible keeping the pencil side of it sketched in. I'm doing my best to get over certain phobias and hopefully with my stubborn-ness I'll be able to make more drawing cards in the future, so will post the finish set hopefully later today. . My peony game is so weak but its one of those names I'll sit there repeating till someone duct tapes my mouth shut. I was impressed over the fact that I didn't fudge it up, like seriously my phone recognises that it's a flower (I don't know if that's sad or hipster-ish). I was drawing over acetate last night and I just love the effect it gives, and I'm trying to find a combination of ways to incorporate that with watercolour paintings. What do you guys think? (you can also tell me it's a terrible terrible idea), let me know I would love to hear your thoughts. . I also did another painting yesterday but it's for a video, sadly not a tutorial but just me for the first time talking to you guys about everything that's been happening. I've not done a voice over in ages so planning on what to say is a lot harder then I thought, but hopefully I'm able to stop blathering and it all comes out the way it's suppose to. . [re-upload because I wasn't happy with the distant and how much Instagram squished the quality of the video] . It's June when the hell did that happen...slightly concerned with how quickly time is going at the moment and a little worried about everything coming to place. . I couldn't sleep last night, well not very well and thought I'd throw this little 1 minute teaser together, it isn't really a teaser just me drawing as usual. . If anyone is wondering what camera I'm using its the @Huawei p20 pro, at the moment I'm slightly addicted to using my phone, though filming at 4k doesn't go without its cost a 10 minute video is about 1.6 GB and can fill up fast when your painting. Painting on acetate is an incredibly fragile thing but it has such an amazing effect, I miss painting in detail...the small miniscule little details and composing all the intricate highlights. Even though this was a test in materials it was such a learning curve, so I will be working on a bigger official piece soon. So in mean time I want to get ideas on colours and composition as the result is such a print like effect. . I know gouache is becoming a big deal amongest artist at the moment and I think I found my method to use it, which has made me incredibly excited for the next few things I want to create.
