To celebrate I wanted to participate in their draw this in your style challenge and I couldn't resist this cute little fairy.
I am so glad the rules allow to change the angle cos I am absolute trash at drawing a top down view so I would not have been able to do it justice. I changed it to be a front kinda down view with her wings spread out and her body still scrunched up to try to retain the cosy snuggles of the original.
I used a painted watercolour style which changed the colours that I picked from the original to be a more pastel shade. I like how it made it all soft and relaxing even if the random places I went over the sketch still drive me a little nuts, haha. I was torn between doing line art or not but I like how my red sketch looks with the pastel colours.
I fussed with her hair for a while too because in order to get her beautiful gradient of dark to blue I had to do several layers of the darker colour to make the transition stand out, otherwise it all became one messy blob all together.
Since I can't use a banana for scale I used some flowers and mushrooms to show how small she is. I drew this on my twitch stream and chat was being super supportive of me adding everything my heart desired. What flower is this? Its an idontknow flower. I started drawing a lily from memory and this is what happened. It doesn't have enough petals but when I realised that I wasn't willing to add the missing ones. If this turns out to be a real flower and you know what it is, please share!
I drew mushrooms and at the time all I was thinking about was how tall I needed the mushrooms to be to fit in the space I had for them. I did not consider the fact that the mushrooms I was drawing might have qualities that could make a fairy very sleepy...and snacky...
Anywho! Then I added sparkles because they make everything better!
