I greatly apologize about how long its taken me to respond to this, and I’m screencapping your comment because this might take a bit to explain, and it’s just better if I put it in a separate post instead of trying to write a bajillion words in Tumblrs comment thing. I also decided to wait until I had a keyboard to write this, instead of fumbling my way through on Tumblr mobile and writing it with my phones keyboard, because it’s just less time consuming, since I’m a faster typer when not confined to my phone.

There’s a theory that Elisa Lam was a tuberculosis drug test subject. The reason for this is because during the time frame that Elisa was staying at the Cecil Hotel, there was a severe tuberculosis outbreak on Skid Row, and most of the downtown area. That in and of itself isn’t weird. It sucks, but it’s not inherently wierd.
What IS wierd (apart from me trying to explain science things like I know what the fuck any of this shit is and like I actually know how to pronounce these words :)))) ): The tuberculosis test that was being used in the area was the Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay - called LAM ELISA for short. Apparently the antibiotic for TB patients (isoniazid) that is most commonly used for treatment has side effects that include abnormal behaviour and confusion and that stuff, which if anyone remembers, people believe Elisa was exhibiting in the video. However, her toxicology screens didn’t find anything. The conspiracy theories, however, say that the drug results were forged/altered.
Now to get even MORE into the conspiracy rabbit hole *readjusts her tinfoil hat*, there are those who believe that Elisa Lam actually never existed, and the whole thing was fabricated. Why would they do this, you ask? Because the government was trying to distract the public from the intentional, government sponsored TB outbreak, and testing. This theory suggests that the whole story was fabricated and that if anyone who tries to search for LAM ELISA would be flooded with the case of Elisa Lam instead (which I guess kinda worked, but now when you search LAM ELISA you actually kinda still get this whole theory so....? But I suppose this is after the fact, but anyway.) (REF because Jess had to look this up to explain all this properly XD) Thats the jist of it, and people are welcome to correct me if I’m wrong in any way, because I’m not a scientist or anything. I’ve heard that basically the government was testing this tb stuff on the people of Skid Row. I’ve never been to LA, but I guess this is an area in downtown LA where there are is a large homeless population, and the government was using the homeless population to do thier experiments on. I’m not entirely sure if I believe this whole LAM ELISA thing, altho... it is...really...like...????????? I mean it definitely makes you think. I mean the government does do some pretty shady ass things IMO. But would they go to the lengths of creating online profiles and stuff for this girl named Elisa? (Elisa apparently had a Tumblr, and I would assume she might of had a facebook or something. Also, she has family too - so what about those people who are her family? If the LAM ELISA theory is correct, lets say, then are these just actors or something??? I mean this just keeps me thinking honestly.)
Honestly, the Elisa Lam case keeps me up at night, I swear to god, like. There are just so many things going on and it feels like theres no concrete answers. I don’t know what I believe. I don’t really think I believe that anything paranormal happened, personally. If you ever get bored or have time and want to know more, theres a few Youtubers that I recommend who have done some great work, John Lordan of the LordanARTS channel did a good video a little bit ago, also The Paranormal Scholar did a documentary, Cayleigh Elise as well. John tho I feel went pretty in depth with it, and I also just really love his channel (especially if you are interested in true crime/missing persons cases.) This case is honestly just one that will continue to fuck me up for a long time. I just hope we can have some answers, so that her family gets some closure, and if she was murdered, that those who did it will be brought to justice.
