Athlete kids spend a lot of time building their parents’ skills and finances on coaches and equipment. So, it is understandable that for parents, it might be a huge shock. Forcing or guilting them to continue an activity or sport will only lead to your teen distancing.
Dentist’s Day! I’m a big fan of the dentist. My father was a dentist and when my mother had errands to run, she’d leave me at Dad’s office. I spent hours sitting in his tiny cluttered office, full of dental journals, listening to the whirl of the drill and moans of uncomfortable patients. I spent that time mostly drawing comics, about a dentist superhero, Dr Dad. I also liked to imagine my always gentile dad as Steve Martin’s dentist, Dr Scrivello, in Little Shop of Horrors, inflicting pain in his patents for pleasure.
