Xander coaching Nico on how to be more masculine & embrace masculinity. That or pressuring Nico into acting more masculine or into masculinizing himself.
Nico growing out his body hair - arms, pits, legs, pubes - and Xander affirming him every step of the way. Calling him bro, dude, man, etc., bonding over objectifying girls, becoming jerk off buddies, locker room talk in general, wearing masculine clothing. Normalizing a healthy male body for Nico while being a more positive male role model than his dad was.
Xander wouldn't do it at first but David convinces Xander it'd be better for Nico - that he was just running away from himself by not embracing his nature as a male. Appealing to Xander's performative masculinity to pressure him into pushing Nico.
Nico being disgusted at first but slowly coming to enjoy the feeling of being affirmed as male - from a role model who isn't accusatory towards him but who is also firm in his convictions as a guy. And Nico slowly opening up to more and more male experiences as time goes on.
Nico eventually working out & becoming more naturally male. Comfortable with his identity and more confident, having built a brotherly bond with Xander and David. All three boys becoming the 'bros' of the class, constantly hanging out talking about girls and working out together.
Nico looks back on ever having thought he was non-binary and he feels sad. Because how could he ever be so misguided. Then he feels angry, because why did his dad treat him so badly he thought abandoning his identity altogether was the answer. And then he feel happy, and grateful that he was able to find positive male role models who guided him towards happiness. And then proud, of being born a man.
