Repost I'm sad to announce that NBA legend/Dunk legend Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins has passed away to a heart attack. Dr. Dunk played for the Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, New Jersey Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers but also played briefly for the Harlem Globetrotters. Dawkins is responsible for the NBA adopting breakaway rims due to him shattering the backboard on two occasions in 1979. I remember when I had a few of his cards back when I was 6 or 7. He was know also as Dr. Dunks for his powerful dunking ability but also gained the name Chocolate Thunder from music legend Stevie Wonder. Salute to him and my condolences to his family and friends at this sad moment in their lives.
