Moving closer to her as they sat on the bed, Dre reached out to gently nudge her shoulder, not even bothering to look down. “Aye, you know I’ve been in love wit’ you since I first saw you, right?”

This argument wasn’t like the rest. There was fuel behind her fire. And yet, there wasn’t any truth behind, which pissed him off. Here Nadia was, thinking her point was valid, when it wasn’t. But every time he tried to interject, her raised voice cut him off. He hadn’t been with another woman since his only affair. The regret and guilt behind it still plagued him to this day. Andre wasn’t dumb enough to be caught doing the same shit again. “Yo’! Leave her outta this dumbass...whatever it is. That shit ain’t true, Nadi. It’s not.” His tone was final and he hoped that she would leave it at that. Turning around, he began to head upstairs, only being stopped at the rough grip on his arm. With his facial features contorting to display his irritation, he turned to face her, using every fiber of his being from doing something completely out of line. “I’m fuckin’ walkin’ away ‘cause you on some bullshit. How the fuck am I spossed to know how a random ass broad got yo’ number? You think Ion realize the damn outcome of me stepping out again? I’m a whole bunch of things, but dumb ain’t one of ‘em,” he stated loudly, snatching his arm from her hold. There was a constant fear within him, that he would lose not only the love of his life, but that lifelong bond he had with his daughter would change as well. “You either gonna drop this, or continue it by your damn self, ‘cause it ain’t got shit to do wit’ me. Take this up wit’ that bitch blowin’ ya’ line up instead of me.”

The silence of the building wasn’t an empty one, but peaceful. He didn’t understand how Sophia was currently so quiet, completely divulged in her small toy as her parents stared out across at a painting. Dre’s attention was with his thoughts while his body was placed in the art gallery. Turning to gaze at the woman beside him, she once again captivated him more than anything else could. “So um,” he softly muttered, prior to clearing his throat,” you wanna tell me what you think ‘bout this one? ‘Cause it’s got you lookin’ kinda puzzled.”

Andre looked down at the small body in his arms, gently rocking her back and forth as he watched her fight off sleep. “Don’t worry, Sophia..just let it happen,” he tried to coax. It had been a few hours of her incessant cries throughout the middle of the night that woke the both of them and it was his turn to tend to their most valuable treasure. A soft yawn slipped from her mouth as he finally let her part from his hold, letting her lie down in her crib. Pulling the blanket over her body, Dre stared for a few moments, unable to stop the smile from forming on his face at the sight of his daughter. With the utmost reluctance, he returned back to his bedroom, quietly closing the door behind him. “She’s finally sleep, Nadi..”

“Ok so honestly...this doctor been takin’ mad long. Because it’s not as if you can have this baby at any damn moment.” Although a complete exaggeration, Andre was just beyond anxious to be here today. “Yo’ you think that when we have this boy, he’ll have my curls? Cause you know, that’s what keeps the Williams men poppin’, bae.”

Walking in the house, Dre immediately loosened the bowtie around his neck. The award show was a complete and utter bust, killing his mood to party too long. That and the fact that he didn’t want to come home drunk off his ass, again. As he turned the lights on in the living room, a box on the table reminded him of what she had texted him earlier in the evening, a smile appearing on his face. “What do you have up your sleeve this time, Nadie,” he mumbled softly, going over and observing the box, halfway not wanting to open it. Andre pulled his phone out and went to his call log, pressing on her frequently dialed number, hearing as the dial rang.
[text]: I SWEAR TO GOD I’M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU
[text]: Ok?? Nothing new.
[text]: You sure that it’s actually me?
[text]: Or is this a cry for some food? Or dick? Lemme know.
“So, you really ‘bout to call me like I ain’t get yo’ specific approval to be out tonight? Really?”
