Being as I’m not going to do the “whyte gurrl with dreads” thing, I have a question.

I admire the style, I think it’s beautiful, but I’m not comfortable participating in something that so often has hurtful repercussions - it doesn’t matter what my intent is.  It just has those effects, so I will not be doing it.

However, I know that there are plenty of ways I can piece or part out bits of my hair and adorn it the way I want to.  I just can’t seem to find much online, or even on tumblr, as examples of this.  My hair is neither long enough nor thick enough towards the top (thank you, chronic illness!) to do braids (braids - not cornrows).

So I’m asking  you, tumblr, a very super serious question right now:

What are ways I can use dread cuffs (in my hair) without having dreads?

what are the gold pieces/links that some people add to their braids? I've been looking for them, but don't know what they are called. They are made of metal and you clamp them on your braids.

Yes, I just googled and they're called Dread Cuffs. Check every beauty supply store or 99 cent store in your area. Also try asking any dread head you know.
