🍄 The Dreamscape 🍄
Like Windhaven, the Dreamscape is both a location and a living being. It is huge, covering the same area as the Overworld and more. It is an Oberver, moved permanently into the world of Yokai. It is flexible and ever-changing, but curteous enough to allow some locatinos to stay the same for its residents.
Said residents consist mainly of phantoms - Entity souls either born in the Dreamscape or wandering it for long enough to become one with it. The phantoms and the Dreamscape have a symbiotic relationship, with the health of the Dreamscape directly affecting the wellbeing of phantoms, and said phantoms dragging in new souls so their Observer can feed. Other mobs and creatures may spawn here, but they usually lack souls - being merely a projection of dreams or a tool the Dreamscape uses to better kill those trapped within it.
Most Overworlders will only see flashes of the Dreamscape, once in a while-- if they sleep enough. Phantoms have a way of spotting those who haven't rested and dragging them where they belong. So if you only see the Dreamscape in your dreams, briefly- if you struggle to remember it? Consider yourself lucky. The Dreamscape has nothing for Overworlders to survive on, so if you do find yourself dragged there... Well. You better start praying.
