The LA Dodgers’ Dodgers Dreamfields Project
For more than a decade, Emal Nessary has served as an operations administrator for the Writers Guild of America, West, Inc., in Los Angeles, California. In this capacity, he oversees tenant relations, building operations, marketing, and financial responsibilities. An avid sports fan, Emal Nessary follows several California teams, including the LA Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF), the official team charity for the LA Dodgers, has served the community in a variety of ways for over two decades. One of the many programs supported by the team and its charity is the Dodgers Dreamfields program. This program provides softball and baseball fields to youth in the area. In doing so, the program hopes to give young individuals the opportunity to play baseball in a safe environment while also learning about the importance of ethics, fair play, and other team sport characteristics. To accomplish its goal, the LADF has partnered with several organizations and entities on the Dodgers Dreamfields project. These partners include the LA84 Foundation and City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. By working together, these partners have completed 44 fields since the project’s inception and they continue to work toward the long-term goal of creating 50 fields. Local individuals are also encouraged to support the Dreamfields by investing. Although each investment varies depending on a field’s needs, most investments include bench upgrades, new scoreboards, backstop upgrades, and other field improvements.
