I will be updating this list as I read new fanfic so that we can all enjoy fanfic together
I tend to only read fanfics which are complete so all fics on this list will be complete unless otherwise stated. Also, I steer towards mature/explicit fics so please please read the tags
1. Love is Not Over by TheOrgasmicSeke (series)
Summary: "Yoongi, Jungkook, and Jimin finding happiness within sadness."
This work is based on the I Need U MV so it is suitably angsty but with a happy ending that melted my heart. Also, I never knew I was so into yoonminkook but here we are
2. Train to Busan by TheOrgasmicSeke
Summary: "One seemingly normal Friday morning in Seoul, South Korea, Min Yoongi boards a train with his son in hopes of getting to Busan so the boy can spend his fourth birthday with his mother. Things do not go exactly as planned."
Zombie apocalypse? Hell yeah
Dad!yoongi and son!jungkook? The most adorable thing ever
Taegi? Even if you don't normally ship it, it's not the main focus and I would suggest an open mind
3. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World by TheOrgasmicSeke
Summary: "Jungkook was holding him against the edge of a bridge and asking him to jump into the unknown with him. He was asking Yoongi to trust him; a kid who he didn't even know existed until a few days ago. A kid that was quickly tearing down every wall Yoongi built up around himself for the past ten years and shoving himself inside, curling up like he belonged there all along.
So Yoongi did the only thing he could.
Ok so first things first, this was the first yoonminkook fic I read and I really wasn't sure about it but I have no regrets, it just works so well. I don't know if it's because of the author's talent (I think it might just be clear that I'm a fan) or if the premise of it being an apocalypse AU made my mind more open. Secondly, full disclosure guys, I cried my eyes out. And I mean that sincerely so feel free to shout at me for suggesting you read this (sorry not sorry)
4. A Touch of Sin by Pettey
Summary: "After his transfer to a quiet seaside town, Jeongguk was prepared to face a year of uneventful CID work, but found himself dealing with a series of strange murders instead."
I don't even know where to start with this one other than to say that it is just beautifully written and completely not what I expected. There are supernatural elements that are just woven into the story in the same way you would expect from a published author. I'm currently rereading this so maybe I will have more to say afterwards
5. House of Cards by Sugamins
Summary: "Jungkook is the heir to a mob empire, the most notorious in the whole of Seoul. Taehyung is a rookie sent in to infiltrate by his select team and bring the empire crumbling down.
"You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated.""
This is hands-down my favourite fic. I love everything about it including the way it ripped my heart out and stamped all over it. The skill of the writer is evident in the way that all of the explicit scenes (be it violence, sex or drugs) are there for a reason, they all further the plot. I particularly love the way the sex scenes show the power play occurring between the three main characters. Unfortunately, I can't tell you my favourite part because spoilers so again, feel free to yell at me for this recommendation
6. Taste of Ink by Sugamins
Summary: "Jungkook is a drug runner for the largest gang in the whole of Busan: the Sam Yong Pa. One day he bumps into a runner for a rival gang in the next district that has trespassed into their territory: a Geum Sung Pa boy called Jimin. Jimin has a friend, a goon for the rival gang. Taehyung beats people up for a living, and boy, does he look good when he’s doing it. But their blossoming friendships reignite old gang flames and causes the most brutal gang war the country has ever seen.Dragons destroy and stars explode."
This fic is very Romeo and Juliet but with gangs and violence. I read this straight after House Of Cards and my poor heart did not have time to recover. I ended up just staring at my bedroom wall for a solid 5 minutes blinking back the tears
7. Run This Town by dreamingdaegu (series)
Summary for part 1: ""Wanna give you a private dance," Jungkook murmurs, tugging him in the direction of one of the secluded rooms.
"Doesn't that cost a lot more?"
"You can afford it," Jungkook tells him.
It's true, Yoongi can. But it's the principle; the feeling of being taken for a fool, who'll pay anything just because he can. He's about to argue his point before Jungkook adds-
"Anyway, this one's for free."
[alternatively: Yoonkook fuck in a strip club]"
Basically, yoonkook start off as friends with benefits but as it goes on, they fall in love and it's just cute. The fic also gets more plot-heavy as it goes on but it's not really intense. There is a sequel which I have yet to read but I have high expectations
8. The Sky is Blue and the Sun is Shining by astringnxt
Summary: "All his life, Taehyung has only known a spectrum of greys. Then, he meets Jungkook. Colour is a myth, but Taehyung has always been a believer, especially when it comes to miracles. (aka soulmate!au where one only starts seeing in colours when they meet their soulmate.)"
This was a nice, short read that made me realise I was being unfair to soulmate AUs. I had thought they were far too fluffy for me but this hit me in the feels, and in very few words. It may not be as hard-hitting as some others on this list but it has opened me up to a new-style of AU and maybe it will do the same for someone else too.
