Today was shaping up to be a lovely day for a stroll in the woods. Normally he wouldn’t go through uncharted areas or such a drab, filthy forest but he knew the area well and there were plenty of man-made (and animal-made) paths for him to take to and from the villages. Besides, the weather was favorable for a change and after living in England for so long, Ratigan took advantage of warm, sunny, and dry weather as often as he could–when he wasn’t busy plotting his latest scheme.
Eventually, his walk to him to a cottage, secluded from the rest of the world. He had seen this house before but only in passing and had no need of it. Now, on a relaxing day off from being a criminal mastermind, curiosity took root in him. What sort of person or people lived so far away from civilization? Were they in hiding or hiding something? Or did the owner of such a small establishment simply loathe society and wished to be alone?
With these questions and possibilities swirling around in his head, Ratigan easily slid under the door and began to quietly explore the apparently empty cottage.
