@look-back-month-challenge 2026 day 27: Exciting
Had to post something to commemorate the anniversary of the first Pokemon games today. It's not just any anniversary, it's the 30th birthday of Pokemon!
Back in the 90s it took a while for media to spread internationally, so I didn't actually discover Pokemon until 1999... which was actually before it launched in my country, thanks to the internet. The happy Pikachu plush in the first picture is my first Pokemon toy, given to me by my sister when she came back from a trip to the US.
Back when I was a kid, my favorite Pokemon would change very frequently, but Electrode has remained my absolute favorite Pokemon for over 20 years now. The second picture is a comparison of an Electrode plush I obtained in 2005 (released in 1996 or 97?) and a newer plush from a couple of years ago.
Right now I am very excitedly waiting for the big anniversary Pokemon livestream in a little over an hour! See, I managed to tie it back to today's keyword.
