He knew this was likely to be the battle to decide it all. He had many a victory to his name by this stage, but this was a different matter. A battle on open ground was one thing, but trying to lay siege to a city was another. He only hoped that Stannis Baratheon’s confidence in the matter was not only based on faith in the strange god he worshipped, but had some grounding in common sense. Tension had been filtering through his men for some days, and as they stopped to eat, Robb took the time to walk among them, talking to and hearing them as he believed a king should. He only stopped upon seeing a strange sight within an army - a young girl. He had yet to meet Shireen Baratheon properly, but had heard some about her. A bright and pleasant child by all accounts, and clearly hardy to withstand the struggles of travelling to war.
“My lady,” Robb said as he approached the child, wearing a kind smile. “I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of being properly introduced to you as of yet. I am Robb Stark of Winterfell. I’ve heard many a good word about you.”
