my mind has been all over the place because real life is busy and I am inbetween creative projects (once again procrastinating developmental edits, woop) so the urge to write in The Witcher setting is high, like really really high.

He smiles against her lips for a moment, taken by surprise, before properly returning the kiss. They both need to catch their breaths afterwards, then Wilhelm pulls Tilda in for a second one.

She finds herself shrugging, leaning closer to catch his warmth on a chill autumn morning. "Everyone deserves love, do they not?" Before he can disagree she has already wiggled her way out of his touch, walking over towards the breakfast table.

"Besides, I need to make sure that you wish to come back from your adventures."

His hands have reflexively raised to counter a possible attack, though luckily the princess has already recognized him and he slowly lowers them, before crossing his arms. "Perhaps. Does it matter?" Wilhelm hasn't come because of an order, not even at a friend's request, even if he still tries to convince himself otherwise.

"And that decision is hiding in the forest at nightfall?" His tone isn't lecturing ( the knight has long given up on that when it came to Tilda ), but mostly factual, with just a hint of good-natured amusement, that he can't quite contain.

"Well, there is no fun in hiding in the forest during the day, is there?", her tone is as ridiculous as her words for she is not sure whether or not he is trying to tease her. "I imagine it to be rather boring instead."

Running off like this was the reaction of a child, she is aware of it. Just as much as Wilhelm and Bain are surely aware of it. But the last thing Tilda wants to do is admit it to either of them. Does it matter? He asks it as if he is truly wondering. Of course it matters. The reason behind his actions always matter to her. The young princess prays it is because of her brother's - the king's - orders, for anything else would make the decision she is about to make so much harder. "You have no right to question me, Will. You are neither my husband nor my brother. And therefore you have no reason to deal with my antics either, have you?"

I do not have to go into work tomorrow so I am doing the only reasonable thing: staying up too late to make new OCs that will destroy Flora and me.

quietly working on drafts and I was just reminded that I need to find my old headcanons about Dale, the wonders of the city, and especially about the water gardens and all the lush green surrounding the city and especially the royal family. And it reminded me of something Mercer wrote down in the history part of his Tal Dorei setting, about how after the Calamity the elves and dwarves still remembered what had happened and how it came this far, the destruction and the terrors of the war.

but humans did not have such long life and therefore memories of that time, theirs were written on parchments and scrolls and soon lost to history. and I think that is an important thing to remember when it comes to Tilda interacting with elves and eternal beings. What they remember as facts and truths, she only knows from stories and lullabies. She longs to see Dale restored to its old glory but she has only ever heard tales of it, she is fascinated by these tales, yes, but for her they will never be the truth. She has to forge her own truth in the future and therefore cannot be bound by the past, by ages she has no memory of.

she does not have the lifespan of a dunedain or the upbringing and education of a son of Gondor. She is a child of the lake and that is all she will ever remember, all she can ever compare to. the reflection of Laketown burning, the forlorn ruins of Dale, before becoming an ambassador and getting the chance to travel a bit further , those are the only things she has ever known. Even her own mother is a tale that will never be really true to her. Stories and shadows, never facts. In comparison to her sister and brother Tilda had a more protected childhood, so she is able to hold onto the wonder a bit longer, building hope on dreams and stories. But she is also in danger of losing that hope faster, should she ever realise that stories and dreams are all she's got.

"You are far from the city", her eyes were locked on the stranger, her hand already moving to the dagger at her hip. "What brings you so far to the north east, good sir? Beyond these trees, there is nothing but orcs and bandits."

I survived the weekend (event went great, we even sold a few books, woop woop) but now I am rotting on my couch because a cold hit me full force. I will try to get some replies done because I could not go into work today but also my brain is kind of still asleep.

the princess bowed her head in greeting, a smile lighting up her eyes. "welcome to the city of Dale, we are honored to call you our guest for the festivities. hopefully there has been no trouble on the road?"

"It's less so meeting the pirate and his crew and more so trying to find the door that'll lead me - you, us - to the pirate and his crew. That's the whole thing. I got stuck there and it was an accident. And then he pushed me through a portal and I haven't seen him since. So maybe now I need a similar accident. But I have no idea what I should do. You know, to recreate all of those... circumstances."

"You got stuck there?" Tilda has heard the story of Udyati and Harry more than once by now, but this is a detail that at least feels new to her. "I am more than happy to push you through a door, you know, for science. But I do feel the need to ask for the return-plan. Because though I am not quite happy with my family right now, I know that Sigrid will kill me if I miss the gala on Friday. So, how do we know you won't get stuck there again?" It is not that she isn't trusting her friend, it is more that she needs to know how big the chance of not returning is. And adventure? Yes. Never seeing her family again? A clear no.
