i think a pretty reliable way of telling how old a dream demon is is by what their face looks like, especially in the case of reapers. if they still have a somewhat identifiable face, the demon is probably still young, within its first few decades of existence. just as any being inhabiting the dream realm that is no longer living, a dream demon’s identity and self image will start to warp as time passes, and the longer a demon goes on living in the dream realm, the less they will resemble what they looked like in the waking world. often times the most monstrous dream demons are also some of the oldest.
