Seaside

Kimaru was out for the day, hanging around by the ocean as she always did on the weekends. She loved her job at the tea house, but the ocean was always calling her. She had packed up for the day and set out on her journey to get to the ocean. The breeze was nice and it put a nice spring in her step as she walked along the pathway that she took every weekend to her favorite place on the beach.

The dancer hummed softly to herself, swaying as she walked as her Vaporeon walked alongside her. The two of them loved taking beach trips together, and it was always so much fun to swim around in the water with Ralu. She was so graceful, and Kimmi learned a lot from watching her Pokemon swim. Once they had arrived, she set straight to dropping her bag and jumping into the water, dunking her head  and looking at all the fish that happened to be nearby.

She sang an old sailor song that her dad used to sing as a lullaby as she floated along in the water. Ralu had already taken to jumping in and out, doing little twirls and flips as she zoomed along. Kimmi dived, following her Vaporeon through the water and eventually landed back on the beach, staring up at someone she’d never seen before. She smiled, staring up at them with a smile on her face, the sand already a mess in her wet hair. “Hi! Did you come to play on the beach too?!”

A Long Day ⚡ Lt. Surge & OPEN

It was a long day. The male was scheduled to battle eight trainers that day -- one right after the other. He knew this was a bad idea, but he felt he needed to push himself; he felt like he was getting weak. The only thing the lieutenant could do was brace himself and go hard.

Finally, his final match. He knew he had this battle in his pocket. When the trainer sent out a Gyarados, Surge laughed. “Raichu,” the trainer ordered his Pokemon. “Give it everything you’ve got. Volt Tackle!”

The electric mouse tackled the other Pokemon with an electricity charged attack. The super effective attack quickly knocked out the other Pokemon, ending the match for good.

The Leader watched the young trainer return their Pokemon and began crying. He walked up to them and placed a hand on their shoulder. Surge tried his best to calm down the kid -- which he succeeded after some time and some encouraging word. The kid left the gym smiling. Surge sighed. This match was his sixth consecutive win that day. And it showed on his face.

He was tired. Surge left the building with Raichu and together took a walk to the beach. There, he took off his boots and sat them by the street. He walked barefoot towards the water and sat down once he reached the water’s edge.

“Why do I feel so out of it?” He asked Raichu, laying in the warm sand. “Why do I feel like this? Why do I feel lost?”

The Electric-type Specialist remained silent for a few minutes before sitting up. He looked around, and saw a trainer training on the beach. This trainer sparked something inside of him. Surge got up and made his way over to the other.

“Hey, tyke!” He exclaimed. “You look tough. How about we battle?”

Hitchhiker’s Guide to Orre || Clara & ?

She was standing at the edge of Gateon Port, up the steps which led into the rest of the region and its vast desert. Where people parked their vehicles was nearby. She had a sign, cardboard and marker, which simply said “PYRITE??” in block lettering.

It wasn’t uncommon for Clara to hitchhike to get places when outside the city. Maybe people who hadn’t tried it didn’t know this, but a surprising amount of Orre’s residents were ready and willing to give someone in need a lift, if they were heading the same way. She’d yet to have any bad luck, and for that, she was grateful. It wasn’t the safest thing for a teenage girl to do alone, she knew that. But it wasn’t like any taxi service existed, and she could never have afforded a motorbike of her own, even if she figured out how to drive one.

It usually took between a half hour and an hour for someone to pick her up. This time, however, it was taking longer. Probably because of her suitcase. Clara didn’t usually travel with luggage, after all, and many people’s rides simply couldn’t accommodate the extra space required for baggage.

Two hours had gone by. If she wasn’t used to standing long periods for performance, her legs might have been trembling by now. Espi had gotten restless, coming out of her Pokeball to play around, and Oracle had followed suit to keep an eye on her. The three of them must have made quite a sight–a girl trying to get home, an Espeon weaving between her legs while levitating whatever caught her eye, and a Lucario putting those things back on the ground where they belonged.

Hopefully it wouldn’t be too much longer…

Battle on the S.S. Anne; Open

The S.S. Anne, a well-known luxury cruise liner, makes its appearance in the Vermilion City Harbor once a year. And every year, the Vermilion City Police Department would ask him for his help. And every year, he would of course help. This year was no different. That day, the ship was scheduled to dock in the city and stay docked for the week. During this time, the police --including the leader-- would work overtime making sure the tourists followed the law. Luckily for the natives of the city, the majority of the newcomers kept to themselves. The troublemakers usually found themselves on the bad end of the stick. With Lt. Surge on the opposite end.

And that night was no different. After passengers boarded the huge ship, Surge began doing his nightly rounds. He walked along the harbor and asked questions to anyone that looked suspicious (to him, everyone was suspicious. Including the police) and asked why they were there. If he believed them, he’d let them go. If he didn’t, he’d have his trusty Raichu paralyze them until the police could come.

After walking the harbor once, he’d repeat his job.

On his third round, the blond man noticed a group of people lurking about and sneaking on board. He quietly followed them to the deck, where he discovered they were members of Team Rocket. Surge stopped them, however they wanted a battle.

“Three against one?” The man said, putting a hand on one of his Pokeballs attached to his belt. “I like the odds.” Surge was about to call out hs Raichu when he noticed a fourth person on the deck. They must have just arrived, because he did not see them at first. “However,” The leader said to the grunts. “Let’s make this fight somewhat fair.”

The Electric-type user turned to the fourth person. “Hey you, tyke! Wanna help me take out some trash?”

A Haunting in Castelia | OPEN

The witching hour had passed, but still the phantom wandered. A spirit chasing nothing through the oddly deserted streets of Castelia City, without true cause as to why. He’d been anxious, maybe. Unable to sleep amidst the din of urban life, and though the streets seemed always cluttered with people, his walk seemed to deter any from coming out.

Each of his ghouls patrolled the streets, all separate but connected in the eerie fog he’d brought with him. An ill omen, they might call him. Morty never paid much attention to what people said of him unless he intended to exaggerate the claim to spook people further. Gengar certainly didn’t help the cause of infamy, constructing frights and pranks to further the gym leader’s mystery.

But Morty realized he wasn’t alone on this stretch of road leading toward the docks.

“Who is there?”

He was quiet, undeterred, yet pierced the emptiness with clarity.

Barfly | OPEN

He was bored, and it was time. A divey club, always dark, plenty of beats, the seedier kind of place. It wasn’t just a bar but it was hardly a dance club like Nightshade or Le Mec, that gay place he loved. But La Cave had a great atmosphere  to people watch and flirt with the bartender. He was always just a little too perfect for the imperfect space, but his polish helped keep it all in check. Nothing bad ever happened there, and they had a shockingly large selection of wine.

“Bonsoir mes chers,” he said as he entered, clad in his typical clothing, denim and leather in dark colors with a shockingly crisp pop of mauve for a shoe against the blacks and such. “Something red and cheap.”

He sat at the bar, having said that to the perfectly coifed bartender and his ironed shirt. Honestly, it was out of place in a surrealist way that always made him seem to fit even better than the regulars. But how could Ary resist a night at the bar? He’d just gotten paid after all.

Air Rider

Lola had always felt at home in the skies, soaring above the world below, seeing such large structures become almost insignificant. There was something mystical about watching the world fade below, to where only the tallest and largest buildings and landmarks become something even remotely recognizable.

Her lab was now something she could only pinpoint by sheer memory. While she wasn’t hunched over a desk reading or working on her new papers for her research journal, she was found in the skies. There was an unspoken therapy that she found up here, that she could truly escape from the monotony of daily life.

She loved her job, with everything she had...but the skies always held a special place in her heart. After Kintara grew antsy that morning, she knew that it had been some time since the two had a ride together, and she set out for a trip of unknown destination.

After some time, the chirping of the Talonflame grew happier as she dived toward the earth below, causing Lola to scream in surprise at the sudden change in direction. Landing was always one of her least favorite things, since the rush was harder on her than she would have liked. After her glasses were skewed and her hair a disaster...she sighed, climbing off her bird. “Kintara...you shouldn’t startle me like this. You know I’m very easily startled...” 

The bird chirped, beginning to ruffle her feathers and pecking the ground. Sighing, she adjusted herself and began to look for what had piqued her companions interest. Adjusting her glasses again, she took out her compass to start mapping the area she didn’t know. Her eyes landed on perhaps another traveler... “Ah? Oh, hello, I didn’t see you there at first...perchance...do you know where I landed?”

Just a Little Pilferage || Jeanne & ?

She was in fine form today.

This was a jewelry store she’d once visited as a child, one typical of Lumiose, and while she hadn’t been inside for over a decade she had walked by many times previously, looking in the windows as she passed. Their displays were quite cluttered; it would be hard for the salesperson to notice if one little piece went missing, right?

She picked a slow time of day, and luck was on her side, for there was nobody else in the store except her and the man behind the counter. “Bonjour!” she greeted cheerily, taking a quick appraisal of the place under the pretense of looking for a jewel that might catch her interest.

“If there is anything I can help you with, please allow me to be of assistance, mademoiselle.”

Giving him a charming smile, Jeanne replied, “Oh, I’ll be certain to let you know!” She peered at a pair of earrings in the same glass case as the ring she’d decided was today’s target. Pointing to them, she said, “Do you mind pulling those out for me?”

“Of course,” he replied, getting out the keys and opening the case, bringing the dangling topaz earrings to the counter. “How do you like them?”

He didn’t close the case back up. Good. “Hmmm,” she said with a little tilt of the head. “I love the setting, but the stone isn’t my favorite color. I just don’t believe yellow suits me. Would you mind looking for something similar in a different color? Emeralds, sapphires, rubies–something of those, maybe?”

“I don’t believe we have anything in our displays, but I can check in back for you. Give me a moment,” he replied, leaving her alone in the store with the case wide open and the earrings on the counter.

An amateur would have taken the earrings on the counter and made a run for it. She was no amateur. The diamond-studded ring towards the back of the case was far enough away from where the earrings had rested for him not to notice it missing, what with all the other jewels.

It was easy to reach in, snag the ring, and slip it neatly into her purse. He would be gone for up to a few minutes longer, so she felt safe as she zipped her bag shut. That is, until the chime of the door’s bell signaled someone else entering the shop.
