what if........ why Rin SAYS he didn't make a Braska coin: 'it was not cost effective to make coins for every high summoner.' the actual reason: he was trying to shack up with Cid's sister so that he would have an in with the Al Bhed leader to fund his future business projects (maybe actual feelings, too. MAYBE. if Rin is capable of those......) then some lame Yevonite boy, with NO business sense, came into the picture and swooped her away. he's still not over it. NO COIN FOR U, BRASKA

i’m not saying i’ve totally thought about this scenario before but i totally have... ! even if he was just her friend back in the day, i can’t think he’d have been happy about seeing her pulled away like that... with no goodbye or anything~ he certainly doesn’t sound thrilled in that dialogue when he tells tidus about it and i’m not gonna just chalk it up to voice acting.

even if it wasn’t romantic at all, though, i can definitely still see rin having some negative feelings about the whole situation. i always picture the al bhed being such a tight-knit culture that anyone of consequence vanishing hurts. and, of course, cid’s sister was definitely someone important... and i doubt just because of him. i love picturing him and cid and his sister all being very close, growing up together. and when she’s gone it’s just... empty. i also like the idea that her leaving somehow inspired him to leave as well in the years that followed...

 contrary to beliefs held over their heads about her , she was capable of being cruel . her cruelty was not one wrought of deliberate barbs , of meaningful trap and ensnarement to lure hearts and flay them open with a battery of salt and blades , but something gentler , more wistful . for shoulders that carried too much , for all the progress she thought she’d gained under the missive of the gullwings , little could staunch the willingness she bore too easily to vacillate into old ways , to trap herself again . but , could she be blamed when the hollows in her souls howled with desolation , at the aching reminder of what had been betrayed and gone ? so much so that even the return of the boy beloved hadn’t been enough to quell their abandoned tide ? and so , she’d vanished . without a trace , without a word to anyone in a mad frenzy disguised beneath still waters . scouring spira , pilfering her way into bevelle where no one had seen her coming .

  and through it all , time’s entrapment had found her through means unlocked , of visions past and almost real had she wandered the intangible until she found something real . gods and goddesses whom she’d forged covenants with to be her summons as the aeons had been , this forgotten pantheon of terrible power . yuna would worship them through battle , in utilizing them in return for new niches in her soul to be carved with living thrums louder than the abandoned places left . to besaid had she returned in the quiet slip of night , without alerting anyone of her otherworldly travels , and to the remaining acolytes of a yevon reforged had she promised herself as a priestess . a place that would see her rise even higher in their clergy , within time . 

  yevon , too , had taken too much of her life . one that idleness and passing fancies couldn’t feel . as a watchdog , she rehearsed and strove to reassure . as an adherent , her traitorous heart reminded her with a telltale throb . emerging from the temple in a dressphere’s outfit borne of her past memories , differently did she appear . with a long skirt , kimono top , and wizard’s sleeves in a bohemian make that was simple and conservative ; finished by elements of her past that reminded others too starkly of the summoner she’d been . and , perhaps , had become again .

  but it was the sun himself she had to face . the one she knew was here , had possibly been searching for . with a face riddled in guilt did the newly anointed priestess wait for him , parting the flap of the tent they’d been living in months prior .

  ‘ tidus , i’m ... i’m so sorry ! ‘

Moonlight { TIDUS }

                   She stood in the sparce fields of Bevelle, flowers alight in the moonlight as the streets filled to the brim with more people Yuna had seen together in her lifetime. Even those in the higher order of Yevon were together with the common people. It was shocking to see so many who would never commonly cross paths even yesterday, talking and cheering among each other in the crowds tonight. There were roars echoing throughout the city as friends and families celebrated the beginning of the Calm.

                                                      Sin had been defeated.

                   It was such an intense feeling, as a child, to experience so much merriment from individuals she had never met or seen, from adults to children who knew naught what everyone was celebrating, but participated none the less. Those who knew nothing of the Summoner who had completed his duty, some who knew less even of what the journey entailed. Yet she knew, as she stood among the crowd praising the man who felled Sin. She knew as the sobs wrenched from her tiny figure, tears spilling from dulled, empty eyes.

                                                          Her father was dead.

                   Yuna woke with a start, pale digits pressed against her chest as her breathing faltered, heart racing in a panic. It had been so long since she even...had a moment to herself to let her thoughts force those feelings on her in her dreams that she’d almost forgotten how often she would wake up, nauseated from her past emotions.

                   She rose from her bed, making sure not to stir the other figure, sprawled so haphazardly on the mattress. A bit of fresh air would do her some good, maybe the breeze would be refreshing enough to wash away the nausea and help her get back to sleep.

                   Stepping outside the hut into the silent village wasn’t something she was used to quite yet. Her life in Besaid had existed within the temple until ending her journey sphere-hunting with the Gullwings. Which she was so grateful for, really! If it hadn’t been for Rikku... she wasn’t sure where she would be right now. Still in the temple, likely, meeting with people day in and out to ask for her blessing. Yevon no longer existed { and she was happy for it } yet so many still looked to superstition. In the past, she hadn’t the heart to turn them away... but now, she just wanted to feel normal. She wanted to be like everyone else.

                   She slipped into an easy rhythm of thoughts as she sat out in the star-lit night, trying to rid herself of once-forgotten childhood anxieties.

he’s persistent, she’ll give him that much. but now she’s wondering if it’s that or him simply being pigheadedly stubborn. arms raise over her chest, folding and locking into place with hands gripping the sleeves of her top. when sice agreed to this guardian gig, she did not explicitly agree to do anything she could avoid in regards to bodies of water unknown to her. he’d have to drag her in first.

This is based on past experience of seeing this be a thing.Yuna/Auron. Come on, now. She grew up knowing him as “dad’s friend”. She doesn’t have “daddy issues” (please don’t make me go full ham on why I hate the unironic use of that phrase because I could dance all HECKING DAY), quite the opposite, she’s perfectly at peace with herself and her environment and her situation. She has to be to undertake her pilgrimage, really. So... I don’t buy that she has a thing for older men because she doesn’t have a daddy figure. I also don’t buy that Auron would fuck his best friend’s daughter for no other reason than he can. I can’t see any chemistry between the characters. I have a hard enough time making aurikku work in my head, this is that x1000. I don’t know, dude. I’m a heavy emotional shipper and all I can see is him looking at Yuna and seeing Braska staring back at him. It would be such an act of disrespect toward his dead friend, and Auron is not about that unjust life.

I’m gonna echo hedge here and say Yuna/Seymour could have been really interesting. I’m all about that questionable, probably unhealthy shit as long as it reveals or develops something within the characters. I don’t know if it’s really unpopular, given the number of Seymour blogs springing up, but having said that, I’ve only seen one potential Yuna/Seymour pairing team up, so I could be wrong. I just generally think Seymour was an interesting character, to be honest - I’d have liked to see a lot more of him (not as much as Yuna, mind you).

maybe she didnt want tidus and kimahri to get involved bc she was afraid that would cause a fight and she wanted everything to remain peaceful 

also-- I can't remeber but does summoning count as magic?? cause the Al Bhed can nullify it if so, which would make her less likely to kick their ass if she even wanted to try lol

// YEAH. okay, i can definitely see her wanting to go with the al bhed if they claimed to know cid or offered to take her to them. i mean, if you listen to her when she explains her lineage on the ship, she’s never actually met him. i’m sure she wants to at least once in her life! he’s some of the only family she’s got left and she’s on the road to her death. if she doesn’t meet him now, she likely thinks she never will. i can also see her wanting to slip away and meet him in private because she clearly doesn’t want to advertise her lineage. why get tidus and kimahri involved if she doesn’t have to? she doesn’t like to ask for help, after all. heh.

also, you’re right! they do have the talent to block magics and summoning, they do it in that boss battle with brother at lake macalania. maybe once they brought her to the ship, she found she could no longer summon. so, she just fought back as best she could... !
