Sunlight makes my
hands pine the sky,
something about escape
the rise of a basket
with holes
I haven’t enough
to warm the loss

Shapes in the clouds!! ☁️☁️
the curve of your cheek
as clouds drifting
above your sunset lips
red and warm
I see you in the sky
most nights
remember the darkness in your eyes
pulling me
close almost like
home
Untitled Collaboration with @drearydaffodil
Your slow blinks, ringing bells
I slipped, I sunk, I fell
Pavlovian tendencies dripping out
My open, wanting mouth
A desert, dreary, your water warm
Cat-eyed in your amber glow
Sweet honey slipping in a swarm
To be devoured, a gift bestowed
I am feral with this ache
Half-drunk with desire
A yearning only you could slake
A hunger set on fire
I approach you, open and bare
I lay me at your feet
I catch you in your lustful stare
I make myself your feast
Thanks to the wonderful @drearydaffodil for lending her talents for this piece.

How in the world did you find poems from 2017? :p
:) i love that poem.

the gifted drearydaffodil everybody!
Winter, and then Spring
Things tend to start
The same, don't they?
We were a winter love
Finding refuge in
Intimate quarters:
Coffee shops, poetry readings
Sharing mad dreams
Exchanging inspirations
And stanzas.
It was a bitter December,
And there are parts of it
That still haven't thawed.
We clung to eachother
's loneliness like
Frost to the window pane
and the winds of the mind
proved too strong for my
Holding on any longer.
I went only where
They carried me.
"Your mind is of the wind
But your loneliness sits
In you like a stone."
Said the Tibetan nun.
It was April then.
"That's how tornadoes form."
She gave me a hat
As a gift, left behind
By some passing stranger.
"Suffer well," she said,
"Suffer well."
FIVE FAVOURITES (Poetry edition ✍️): Tell us your favourite: 1. Poem that you've written 2. Poem of all-time 3. Poet, living or dead 4. Poetry collection 5. Season of the year and why ✨ Send this to five poets you admire!
Thank you so much for thinking of me, @drearydaffodil! The feeling's mutual :)
1) "A collision of infinities", which is a distillation of my thoughts on life, the universe, and everything--- I had written before writing that piece. You can find it in the anthology, 'Across Vast Horizons', which I'll mention later. 2) "The Raven", by Edgar Allan Poe. I was asked to do a spoken word of the iconic poem, which was quite a daunting task for a non-native speaker. There are subtle nuances in intonation and in emotion conveyed, speaking. And for that one has to fully understand the poem; to wholly immerse oneself in it. It took me a while to get there, especially as Poe tended to send me running for the dictionary at first. But also because I am a perfectionist and wanted to read it flawlessly in one take. Which is harder than you think. Yet in the end it was that maddening continuous repetition that made The Raven become a part of me. 3) Maureen Armstrong, who goes as @haikkun on here. There have always been poems in Dutch and later in English that I've liked, but never a single poet that sparks the right circuits in my mind like she does. Thought provocative; oft piercing through any subconsciously established emotional barriers; a wittiest use of language that's equally playful as it is genius, all strung together with a writing style that shows the trademark of a natural talent. Do check her blog out and give her some love while you're at it. 4) "Across Vast Horizons", which showcases many of the poets I have come to love right here on Tumblr. It was also the first time I read my own work in an actual book. It has a special place in my heart. 5) Summer. Nature's in full bloom, the skies are blue, everything is bright. The people seem happier and more cheerful, with a little spring in their step, wearing colourful clothes. The evenings are long and there's a deeply rooted desire to make them memorable. There's tons of outdoor festivals which I love. So the only downside is this blasted heat.
Prompt! Life on other planets! 🌌
Poem can be found here!
I actually struggled supremely with this one, which is why it took so long to produce and also why the result is thoroughly dissatisfying; I even reference a moon and not a planet, because I could find no other ideas in this brain of mine.
Nevertheless thank you for the prompt and thank you for challenging me! I’m sorry the result is so lacklustre.
@imperiallefty your prompt is also a tough challenge which I do aim to tackle, but it may take a while and may end up just as disappointing; we’ll see.
