Some people want to watch the world burn, others want to save it.

first finished work of 2019! weird to sign with a nineteen now. a mini series of busts with heroes and their corresponding villains. while some have more specific arcs with others (ex. Johnny and Circe as opposed to Esther and Circe) some choices were made based on parallels they had OR if they went against someone they cared about (like how Circe and Esther or Alex and Aquilo have never really faced off but they have parallels/hurt someone the other cares for). some have faced off and have direct parallels as a jackpot like John and Merhib lmao. anyway I also couldn’t find any colored picture of Dagan and didn’t 100% remember his description so I winged it 8( but happy 2019 anyway!

an extremely rough companion to @genjis-girlfriend’s “cruel cruel fate” thumbnails which did start as that but then became “defining moments” some are so rough u can’t tell what’s happening/who it is but I tried to do all the characters who still have relevance aside from discord cuz idk what to do for them lol,, I know for a FACT some of these won’t make sense bc I haven’t talked abt some of them but. still take a guess I dare ya
Drabble of Drefan and Riq'ua's Reunion
Riq'ua's quiet confidence. The air around the Ellaern is different, parting before the man so ancient. But there is grief in his bearing, a man in mourning. A man I have not seen in twenty-five years. Still as alien as the day I met him in this library. He is sorting books into piles. I know it is numbing work, something he can do repetitively. Something to avoid the thoughts inside his head.
It's when he looks up and sees me that his nearly grey eyes are lit with colour. A soft sea-green returns to their depths, a joy that I fear he has not felt for some time.
"I am so sorry" are the first words I say to the man I loved. The first words spoken since before the war that separated us.
The smile he gave me is like fresh air; I did not know I needed to breathe. But even in the joy of our reunion, the grief remained.
Riq'ua stops what he was doing, leaning forward on the table and says quietly, "His name was Rapheal."
I nod, unable to speak anything more, not knowing what to say to the pain in his eyes. Instead of words, I offer the safety of my arms, and Riq'ua sweeps around the table before we embrace. This, too, I have missed, more than his kiss, more than his words. The strength of the arms that pressed me to his chest.
Snippet of Ch . 3
The castle of the Holy Camarian Empire's capital, Illander, was overwhelmingly bright, with white stone walls, columns, and vaulted ceilings. Adorning the ceiling of the main entry of the castle was a fresco depicting the banishment of our Lord, the Divine of Darkness and Undead, Nanqa. In the clouds of Alasse Cire, the other Divines gathered in council. Lord Reinn Anon, Divine of Light and Storms, held the left hand of his wife, the Divine of Love and Loyalty, Sila Vor. Together, they were the principal deities of the Holy Camarian Empire, and their alliance between Ellaern and humans was the foundation of the Camarian Empire's strength.
Eleven of the twelve other Divines attended the meeting, with the last, neither Lord nor Lady, He'ar Namin, Divine of Judgment and Wisdom, taking Lord Nanqa deep into the void of space. The mural depicted this event as a celebration of light over darkness, of wrongs righted. Yet the Divine of Compassion and Mercy, Lady Naik'lea, sobs openly into her hands.
I like to think that she cries for the injustice being done to our Lord.
It is the Reinnian Church that teaches Camarians this story. I would hate Royale, too, if this were the 'truth' that I was fed from infancy. But I did not feel pity or sadness for the enemy of my people. For they surely did not for me.
The hatred of the Camarians was a subtle thing in the northern court. Not so among the common people who were likely to throw rotting vegetables at you while you watched for a knife in your gut. No, in the castle, the courtiers had perfected silent disgust. They had pretty smiles behind their fluttering fans, brittle things that didn’t mean anything at all.
