polyjomies + love languages

drew

drews love language is gift giving, which is probably pretty obvious from the show but i think drews the kinda guy to like buy smth after he hears someone mention it. like for example if henry starts babbling abt an ice cream flavour he wants to try drew will go and buy it 4 him and tell henry he overheard him talking about it. or he'll buy things that remind of him someone. drew loves giving people gifts because he loves seeing the happiness on their faces after receiving it.

jake

jakes love language is words of affirmation. in the show we see jake lifting people up alot by encouraging people with his words so its basically canon to me. jake compliments his boyfriends alot and is constantly showing affection through his words. he always sends goodnight and good morning texts no matter what. whether its telling them he loves them or telling them how amazing they are, jake loves expressing admiration through words

henry

henrys love language is physical affection. honestly i dont even know why i think this but i just think henry feels grounded and safe when he's close to the people he loves. whether its holding their hand or hugging them it makes henry happy. he shows his love through cuddling, kisses, hugs etc. if he wants his boyfriends to know that he loves them he'll plant kisses all over their faces and squeeze them till they cant breathe.

liam

liams love language is quality time, and this is canon so stfu. liam shows his love by spending one-on-one time with his boyfriends and having their undivided attention. he loves hanging out with them whether they're out and about or just laying bed all day. he thinks spending time with someone is the best way to show them you care about them. no matter how boring mha may be sometimes he still loves watching it with henry because they get to spend time together, same thing with playing drew and jakes complicated videogames. dates are his favourite things ever and he loves planning them.

One of the biggest reasons I ship Drenry is that Henry is the only character I know for a fact would and could consistently take Drew down a peg without fear. And that is an extremely vital factor for my enjoyment. I am completely okay with Drew getting unexpectedly flustered and blushing if Henry is the cause. Guy who could self-admittedly date anyone chooses to date the weird anime nerd and is also consistently charmed by him. It’s hilarious and yet oddly sweet.

A sillier reason I love Drenry is that it turns Liam into a perpetual third wheel, and that feels extremely fitting for their trio. Because yeah Liam would be the third wheel in every conceivable situation. If tmf had a prom storyline, he would be the one at the back of the room raiding the snack table while everyone else gets paired up. He brought three plastic bags with him and sowed pockets into the inside of his suit jacket just for this occasion. That ‘take one’ sign will not stop him. (Also you know Henry is asking him to take couples photos of them all the time just to piss him off).

I swear drenry should be way more popular than it is, man...They have the best banter out of any of the dromies, and Henry’s nearly always the first to back Drew up on basically everything. Hell, Henry’s even the only of Drew’s crew to make him blush. Even Jake has never done that!

And it’s even worse because half of the time people write Driam in a way where Liam is just a carbon copy of Henry and it’s like…No, that’s not Driam, that’s Drenry in a trenchcoat. Liam wouldn’t say half of that shit, but you know who would? Henry!

Henry would totally talk to everyone about how yeah, Drew is his boyfriend and he has the hottest, coolest boyfriend around while Drew facepalms in the corner. We’ve seen how Liam would react at the mere implication that he likes Drew, and it’s blush while profusely denying it. Drew and Liam are both kinda…Chill? And would definitely count sleeping near each other as an awesome date. Meanwhile Henry would excitedly drag Drew around places so they can go on silly dates while Drew pretends not to have fun.

Like the dynamics are so different and I swear, half the people who want the Drenry dynamic try to recreate it with Driam when Drenry is right there.

…So anyways this is a Drenry appreciation post go Drenry!!!
