anyone out here been playing the dressmaker demo on itchio? They've only been working on it for a coupla months and I really like the vibes of it.

It's one of those cute little shopowner sims where clients come to you and you make/bring them a thing to their specs, and in this one you get vibes that the client is looking for and you put together dresses part by part. You can even adjust your sewing machine speed with the left and right arrow keys!

Your selections will affect the overall stats of the final dress, but the selections include both the different cuts and types of fabric. once that's all drafted up, the gameplay lets you place each dart and sew it on a sewing machine

I'm not being paid to promo them or anything but it's one of the handful of shimmering spots of joy in my depression hole atm

this one I tried to recreate the little yellow dress from Madeleine

then this was an attempt to use the shittiest, free fabric available in the fabric shop, burlap. it ended up looking kinda gingerbready?

then there was an attempt to make the ugliest looking evil stepmother dress possible

and then this one where i was trying to make a dress as a homage to my lovely snake peppercorn since i noticed the leaf pattern fabric they have kinda looks like scales

idk its just been fun to poke at.

there's only 5 "client jobs" so far but they're deffo still working on this thing

Little things I think would be cool to add are non decorative buttons, dresses that involve linings, and the ability to backstitch

also yes, there IS a cat in the bg of the game you can pet

This pale aqua dinner dress, entitled "Happiness," is from her Fall 1916 New York collection and represents the quintessential Lucile creation. It was designed in the eighteenth-century style she often favored, with its hooped skirt drawn back to reveal a delicate silk, lace, and ribbon petticoat.

Wholesome Direct 2026 Thoughts

WOW, that Wholesome Direct! I wasn't able to watch it live, but I just watched the replay, and oh my goodness. So many wonderful games and exciting news has come forward from the Direct... truly unbelievable.

Paralives, one of the life sims set to rival the Sims, (review incoming) has a collab with Unpacking and released updates with it that fixed some bugs and include group eating and teen romance, which is absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to get into game and see how things shake out.

The news that excites me the most is, of course, Fields of Mistria 1.0 release on August 5th! (!!!!!!!!!!!!) So soon!!!! For my favorite farming sim to finally be fully released soon... I'm breathless with excitement!

I think my favorite upcoming games mentioned were Dressmaker, (marked with a release of September 2026) a game where you can create dresses to the specifications of your clients' wishes, and Fourleaf Fields, a farming sim where you're "smaller than a carrot"! God, Fourleaf Fields looks so cute! There's a beta but it isn't accepting more playtesters at the moment, and it broke my heart a little, haha!

I'm also a bit excited about Spirit Crossing, a life-sim MMO where you meet spirits and build -- going to give the beta for that one a try with one of my best friends! I'll be sure to write even a small review on how that is, if I do end up sinking some hours into it.

Humblets looked super cute; a game where you craft and play cards with spirits and make animal friends! It seems to have multiplayer as well? Cutieful!

I'm also looking to give the Pelican Post demo, where you deliver mail and help solve villager problems as a pelican mailman, and Papaya Plaza demo, where you're a cat mayor of your own tourist town, a try, and probably write little reviews when/if I do!

Of course, we also got another teaser from Moonlight Peaks, the gothic vampire farming sim that's set to unlock on July 7th, and I'm sufficiently excited for that! I'm still a little chastened by the release price, but if it means everyone gets paid fairly and adequately, then I'm happy!

dresses i made so far in dressmaker, a game prototype u should check out and leave a comment on to support it getting turned into a full game!! you get to go through the steps of making a garment, from cutting the fabric to sewing and decorating, its fun

Hey do you like gaming? Do you like vintage fashion? Do you like dark academia vibes? I have the game (demo) for you. Dressmaker on itch.

Since it's a demo it's free, the developers want to see if it generates some interest, and if it does they'll turn it into an actual game. The demo only represents about 3 weeks of work, so not much yet at all, but I played it and had so much fun with it already!

I desperately want this game to be made because it's basically "Tibbs' Special Interest - The Game" and again, I had so much fun playing the demo alone.

Also yes, you can pet the cat.
