where and when: the curb outside ty's house, carina's birthday
After making a jackass of himself and doing the one thing he had resolved to not do that evening -- argue with the birthday girl -- Ty had doubled down on clownery by storming out of his own house.
Once outside, the stupidity of the situation and his own actions hit him as quickly as the night air did. That's how he found himself sat on the curb sulking, stooped in his own unwillingness to go back inside and look even stupider.
Like an omen that reminded him that his bad night could indeed get worse, he glances behind him and identifies that the owner of the footsteps he could hear approaching was exactly who he suspected they might belong to.
"Man, go back inside. I'm cool out here."
