In Celtic legend, apples were strongly associated with the dead, wands made from the bark of an apple tree allowed one to communicate better with the dead, apple also was believed to be one of the fruits of the other-world and could be eaten to attain knowledge beyond the veil.
Thyme - psychic awareness, commune with dead
Cloves - protection, psychic powers/growth
Cinnamon - protection, establishing a sacred place
Bay leaves - promote communication with the dead, are used in funeral wreaths, and shared during ancestral feasts on Samhain.
Frankincense - help spirits find their way (to you)
3-5 drops of frankincense essential oil
brown sugar (enough to sweeten to your liking)
Put everything in a pot and cover in water, simmer this all on high for 30 minutes before putting a top on the pot and let it simmer for two hours.
Set up for tea time, set out a few candles, serve yourself and anyone else there some cider, pour a cup for the deceased you wish to speak with (set out a photo of them next to their cup and maybe an object tied to the person) and before you light the candles say...
