Kaz sat next to Allie in the waiting room. It was the first appointment that they’d been to, since they hadn’t known that Allie was pregnant until very recently. If they had done, there would have been multiple doctor’s visits already; this would’ve even been the first ultrasound.
They knew now though. Allie had seemed more and more nervous the closer that they got to it. The older woman glanced over to her, voice questioning gently.

Trixie scanned over the notes of her next patient. She’d already read over the file in full so just reprised the main details - her 18 week scan, 3 weeks prior, had been her first and clearly an incredibly distressing one for the expectant mother. Having prepared for the appointment, she made her way through to the waiting-room before calling out her patient’s name.
“I’m Nurse Franklin,” she introduced herself once Allie approached, “Trixie.” Leading her into the room, Trixie offered a gentle smile and gestured towards the examination table. “Would you like to take a seat for me, sweetie?”
