Growing happily on the edge of this gravel drive was Pentaglottis sempervirens (green alkanet, evergreen bugloss). This perennial has a tap-rooted perennial with a basal rosette of leaves. It was introduced into the UK from continental Europe as a garden plant by the seventeenth century.
