All the artists were here and we cancelled maybe like 2-3 hours before the doors were supposed to open. I made sure to refund everyone’s tickets and had to purchase new flights for the artists to go back home earlier than originally expected. It’s been a rough year and a half since then for most of us here. We’ve probably had the most and longest lockdowns in the world. But finally we outside!!! The Blue Jays are playing a home game in front of 15,000 fans today. I get to produce SOD for a fraction of that number but it’ll feel amazing to get in front of a live crowd again. It’s a new venue and a new setup at MFG so even though I’m sure there will be challenges later today, I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you. Thank you for believing in me and selling this out in record time. Thank you for loving Soca music to the point where doing this is even possible. It’s Toronto Carnival weekend and although it’s not the same as the years before, thank you for the vibes and energy. The city needs it. I need it… I’ve been waiting a long time for today and I truly feel I may shed a tear or two.
