I was going to check on him and couldn’t find him.” The ER was swamped, as was usual in the city, and things had gotten a little hectic earlier. He was hoping to get an affirmative response from the other doctor because otherwise he had no idea what had happened to the patient. // @drjohncartermd

"--what?" The sound of Carter's voice brought Susan back to reality, despite not fully processing the question that had just been asked. "I... It's nothing," she shook her head, offering him the best smile she could muster in that moment.

Max cursed softly when he touched the gauze to his side. He had his back to the door in his office so he didn’t hear the door open at first, but when he heard his name he turned around quickly; flinching and cursing again. “H-hey, Carter. You need something?” He smiled slightly at the other, hands covered in a little bit of blood.

Carol chuckles, tucking her hair behind her ears. “I will be,” she nods, turning to Carter. “You’d think after all these years, things like that wouldn’t get to me. Obviously I was wrong.”
