He’d almost called ten times to cancel the date. A blind date Harvey had set up for him. Insisting that he go and at least have some fun. Harvey’s words.

He didn’t really want to, didn’t see the need for it. He was... well, ‘happy’ was the wrong word to describe his feelings at the moment, but he was fine. Life was slowly getting better and things were looking up. He didn’t need this date, but he’d promised Harvey to at least try it, this once.

Harvey had booked a table at a restaurant Jim had never been to before, he’d used fake names and there he was now, waiting for the mystery woman. Wondering how he was supposed to spent an evening with a woman he wasn’t really interested in.

Jim looked up when he heard steps walking toward him... and froze.

“... Lee?”

Many things had changed in their lives during the past couple of months, but one thing he would always do, every morning, without fail: Whenever Lee had to get up, a freshly brewed cup of coffee from her favorite place would be waiting next to her on the nightstand. What had changed was the fact that he no longer bought it during his daily morning run, but would pick it up after finishing the ‘night shift’.

This morning was no exception, the coffee was sitting on the small table, while Jim was dressing a cut on his hand, turning around to smile at her when he heard her move on the bed.

“Morning.”
