Verizon soak test for Droid Ultra, Maxx and Mini brings VoLTE

If you own a Verizon-branded Droid Ultra, Maxx or Mini and have previously registered as a member of the Motorola Feedback Network, you should now be receiving an invitation for a brand new soak test.

If you chose to accept, you will be prompted to download and install a relatively major functionality update, which brings “Advanced Calling 1.0″, also known as VoLTE for Verizon’s network, as well as to the usual multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.

If you’re not a tester and you want to take advantage of the VoLTE service, don’t worry. Once a soak test is successful, the firmware is distributed to all other models of the smartphone within a couple of weeks.

Moto Voice adds support for last year’s Motorola devices

When the Moto X (2014) launched, Touchless Control was replaced by Moto Voice. It was a way to rebrand with improvements and new features coinciding with the launch of the new flagship device. Today, Motorola is update Moto Voice to support last year’s range of devices. This means that Moto Voice now supports the Moto X (1st generation), DROID Ultra, Maxx, and Mini. It also includes Moto 360 and Moto Hint support.

What’s New

* Customize your own launch phrase to make Moto Voice respond only to you (appears to be only for the Moto X 2014)

* Voice command support for YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp

* Turn on Talk to Me and other Moto modes through voice commands

Motorola has begun to roll out Android 4.4.4 KitKat to their phones.
