"Take it from me, you need some fun!"
It was true that Momo had been working herself pretty hard this week, and she certainly deserved to take a break, but...
"But— there's still so much paperwork to be done!" She retorts, brow furrowing as she frowns. Well... it was more of a pout, really. "—And if I don't do it, then who will?!" Whilst not stated outright, it was a subtle jab at her captain's tendency to leave all the work to her.

As we've seen in just the movie verse itself, Jack's biggest change in his life came from trying to take over Christmas. Stumbling into Christmas Town changed his view of himself and his life as it seems. He started thinking he wanted more, he wanted the joys of Christmas too and being the Pumpkin King, the King Of Halloween was no longer enough. And what would seem to be a silly decision to try to make his own Christmas that year would end up leading to the one night that changed Jack's life and ultimately almost cost him it as well when the sleigh was shot out of the sky and I feel it made him realize his status as Pumpkin King and that even though Christmas Town was beautiful and interesting, it wasn't for him, he wasn't Jack anymore when he put on the Santa costume. Which is something Sally had warned him about, that he wasn't himself anymore and she wanted the old Jack back again.
"We make rather a good team, you and I."
The words he speaks are a sentiment in which she agrees, and it brings a smile to the lieutenant's face upon hearing them - lifting her fists to her chest with an enthusiastic nod of her head.
"I'm glad you agree, Captain!"
She couldn't deny that there had been some concern on her part about who would take over the role of captain of the Fifth Division, but Captain Hirako was turning out to be exactly what the squad - and herself - needed.
❛ you deserve better than who i am right now, but i'm gonna keep trying to become someone you do deserve. ❜ ( for tsuneko, probably talking about himself as captain )
" i think... you're... being a little hard on yourself, hirako-taichou, " tsuneko began carefully after a period of silence between them, lilac eyes flickering over to her captain, " coming from someone who worked under you all those years ago... i think you're more than suited. i... " tsuneko paused, glancing away from him into the barracks, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly, " i suppose everyone could use personal improvements, and if you feel like... you're not at your best, then there's nothing i could say to help or reassure, " not like she was good at that anyways, " but i think you're one of the better captains around. n-not-- not that i think lowly of the other captains, i don't, i just... "
she just, what? enjoyed his style of leading the division? enjoyed how his presence seemed to bring about a lighter vibe to others? the past few years had been stressful on the division as a whole, but especially so for tsuneko, having to assume the position of captain when aizen defected. she tried her best to lead her comrades in a way that would make shinji proud, rather than trying to do as aizen had. at the very least, shinji could be found if necessary; aizen seemed to always be missing when he was needed, and they all knew why now. still, she tried to emulate shinji's leading methods -- though she made sure the paperwork fell onto herself rather than the fourth seat.
" you could stand to do more of the paperwork, but it's not like i hate doing it, " the third seat would crack a small smile at her own attempt at a light hearted joke, " you're... personable, and know how to talk to others in ways that make them feel at ease; that's important, i think, for a leader, " something she severely lacked throughout her time as temporary captain, she thinks, due to her being better at the professional side of things, and it led to her being a bit harsher than intended at times, too blunt with the squadsmen, " while you're a captain, you aren't as daunting like the others. ah -- i dunno. maybe i'm not making much sense. maybe this is just my roundabout way of saying i think you're more than fine. "
❛ you can always ask me for help if you need it. ❜ (( for ayame ))
She needed help… A long time ago. After she heard the news that her brother, the captain of Squad Five, was taken down… But also hearing that one of her closest friends was also allegedly taken down in the line of duty as well. She needed help then, help dealing with those feelings… the pain. And then having to deal with Aizen being so cool about it, like nothing happened. Part of her wanted to go searching for him, not believing that all happened.
Help never came and she just… dealt with it, even if it was painful every day for the next 100 plus-ish years. Focusing on other things, trying to keep the squad happy, trying to keep her mind busy. Those were more important. Ayame held on to the belief that he hadn't died that day and well, she was right. Aizen turned out to be a traitor, and her hunch that her brother didn't die and might have been alive somewhere was starting to perk her up once Aizen left the Soul Society.
However, she did end up hearing about him being alive and that he was going to come back to the squad as the captain. Her heart about jumped out of her chest that day. Though when the day came that he'd return as well as Rose, Kensei, and the others, she couldn't have been happier. All of the pain felt like it went away for a short time, a smile returning to her face. That was temporary, and the pain stuck with her, as if he could disappear again without notice.
Ayame looked up at her brother, moving some of her hair out of her face. She needed a shoulder to cry on and time to vent. But went on to reply so he didn't worry about her, "I've been doin' pretty good lately, only thing I've been needin' help with is gettin' my bankai together." Ayame went and pulled the 'I'm okay' card, despite feeling like she could use the help. "D'ya wanna help out with 'at?" Maybe she'd break down and talk during that?
