what do you say when you talk about sexism/racism/etc. and people tell you to keep it to yourself unless you're going to do something about it? my family always tells me that and i never know how to defend myself

Lost: Hm, I'm not sure how to answer this cause I never had this problem besides on the internet. I do think them saying that is a way to silence you, for me talking about racism and other isms is doing something about it. Though I do think people should do more than that, but sometimes just speaking about issues can be a lot especially when most people just sweep it under the rug. I don't know if that made any sense. LOL
