The “MINISTRY” we never had!

There are few things I have in mind, but I will start with this:

“Our passion for God will sometimes lead us to the danger where we make the ministry our own.”

Let’s make one thing clear, the MINISTRY does not need you! Yes, you heard me right, God does not need us! Some of you might think, how then will the ministry work without God using people? Well, He does, its just that it was not OUR choice in the first place. Serving God is a privelege not a RIGHT.

And the sad thing is, people makes this simple yet costly mistake of putting the ministry in our own hands. In Acts chapter 2 verse 42, it says there “...and the Lord added number to them daily...” take note that is it is the Lord who adds the people to the Church. Not the things that we do (yes you heard me right AGAIN), not the praise and worship that we sing (this might be uncomfortable), neither the outreaches that we make, it is GOD. Plain and simple.

But it does it mean that we will slack off and not do our part.? By anymeans NO! If we try to go back and read the verses before acts 2:42, it says there that the disciples devouted themselves to the teachings of the apostles, fellowship, prayer and helping each other out. No more no less. The result? They turned the world upside down.

So what my point? If we want to make our church truly grow, we could follow this simple model. All they did was to love God, and love others as they have loved themselves. There was order but not to the expense of the well being of others. So going back to my point, regardless if God will use us or not, the Church will grow. It may be not under our own terms, but it will. He will not stop! He will look for people who are bold enough to say that no matter how broken I am, its not about me, but its about my God constantly working in me and THROUGH me, not BECAUSE of me.

This is the challenge my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord (as apostle Paul said), that we should not think highly of ourselves but recognize that it is God working in the midst of His people. We are merely called to become partakers in this wonderful PRIVILEGE of serving Him and not serve our BIASES and OPINIONS. We love, not condemn, for we have our flaws too. We are called to advance the KINGDOM regardless of who we are with, where we are, and how we do it. The challenge is to LOVE. And yes, that includes those who wronged us or those who have hurt the people we love. Its not about us, (Its already a given fact that He loves us so much) its about God and what He is doing in His kingdom!

So don’t look on the petty things this life brings fix your eyes to the one true goal of why we became His disciples in the first place! To go and make DISCIPLES!
