DrOWN BAD
⤍ Pairing | Yoongi x reader
⤍ Genre | prince!yoons, deity!reader, other members are barely mentioned (jin is in the story), reader rules deaths at sea, reader can be misinterpreted as evil if you squint, angst, loosely based off of mythical creatures and gods/goddesses but I basically made my own concept, Yoongi really likes swearing, not much romance - but I will be making minis full of requests and side romance stories of the two! (aka please send requests for these two and I will write them! Reactions and interview questions work too.)
⤍ Summary | It was a known fact in the Astedian Empire that traveling on sea would lead to death. It had been a known fact for ten years now and the emperor had failed to find the reason for a decade. Instead, the heir to the throne decides to make his goal to be the first to survive. However, when the heir foolishly dies on his sail to a neighboring empire, the second prince named Yoongi is forced to be the next heir to the throne. Of course, any one with a brain would understand that in this world, power was what determined your success in society. The problem? Prince Yoongi was never expected to be the heir, which meant he was nowhere near prepared to be the emperor. His only plan? To find the deity of deaths at sea and pray for his brother to return.
↳ Warnings | gory/blood, being judged/criticized/put down, death, loss of loved one, not feeling worthy, swearing, mentions of dead bodies, mentions of sex.
↳ Word count | 6k
↳ A/N: I have to be honest, I made this piece solely based on the fact that I thought the stupid joke I made for the title of this was hilarious. I actually laughed at it for like a solid three minutes before deciding that I had to make a one-shot with its title being ‘DrOWN BAD’. Also, I was going to make the name of the empire something Korean but instead I just went onto ‘Random Empire Name Generator’ and picked the first one I saw so uh…

It had been ten years since the deaths at sea had started and it had been 4 years since Prince Yoongi had started praying. He wasn’t one to believe in higher beings, but being the youngest had meant that he didn’t have much power to do anything else. His older brother had always been there for Yoongi, reassuring him that he would do everything in his power to find a solution to this problem. However, his father had other issues on his back and continued to push back the problems occurring at sea.
Of course, the Astedian Empire never had a real problem with the waters because their business was mainly on land. The only real losses the Astedian Empire had felt from the strange oceans was that they could no longer travel to countries where the only mode of transportation was by boat and no longer having the luxury of eating seafood. Everything from the ocean was considered dangerous, including the harmless looking fish.
Nobody knew the real reason for the sudden change in the oceans, before it all, people of the Astedian Empire loved the ocean. Sailing was easy, fast, and always on their side, never had there been a death of their people (unless it was from pirates). Some had blamed the gods and goddesses above and some had blamed the emperor. After a decade however, people had slowly started to accept that the ocean was dangerous, but it was obvious that it still lingered in their minds.

“Yoongi! How is the town? Are they doing alright?” Yoongi’s brother asks, Yoongi wasn’t sure when his brother had appeared in front of him but he decided to not question it. After all, he was in the shared library. “They’re doing great, still crowded like always and I didn’t see any real problems.” His brother tosses him a warm smile, “The vague report you give me is always the same, but it’s good to hear every time.” It was one of Yoongi’s “many” roles as the second son, checking up on the empire and its people. His brother would if he could, Yoongi knew how much he loved to greet the townspeople when he was younger. But now that his face was well known and his job as the heir had become more packed, the task had been passed down to Yoongi.
Yoongi loves his home as much as his brother does, but that doesn't mean he loves talking to people as much as his brother does. He knew his brother thrived on socializing with others, which makes him the perfect heir and the perfect emperor. Yoongi knew he wasn’t fit to be the emperor, but he was perfectly content with having a handful of simple tasks and then spending the rest of his time at the library. The shared library itself was grand and beautiful, it was a shame that not everyone could see it. Only the members of the royal bloodline were allowed in. However, after his mother passed away, his father had never visited the library, and his brother only came in to talk to Yoongi (which was more often than you would think). The only person that had actually used the library for reading purposes was himself. The tall rows of books wouldn’t hint at this at all. People would be surprised at how many of these books he had read, and in fact some even had been read front to back multiple times. His father was a generous man to his sons, which meant Yoongi could have any and all books he requested. The outcome? The library easily became one of the largest rooms in the palace; it would probably stay that way for as long as Yoongi lived here.
Yoongi and his brother were close, it made it easy for Yoongi to support his brother. He had read plenty of books where royal siblings were distrusting and often resorted to murder to secure the top position. When Yoongi was younger, those books had placed fear in his head and quickly decided to never show an ounce of interest in the role of emperor… not that Yoongi had wanted it in the first place. Yoongi often admired his older brother, the man shined brightly everywhere he went, nobody could doubt that he would be the perfect ruler. Everyone loved him, especially Yoongi.
His brother stretches his arms before sitting next to Yoongi on the floor, Yoongi scowls at him, briefly mentioning how his nice clothes would wrinkle. His brother just laughs it off, telling Yoongi to ignore it and how he would have wrinkled clothes everyday if it meant spending time with his brother. His brother was shameless in showing off his brotherly love towards Yoongi. Yoongi on the other hand was more reserved in showing his affection towards his brother, but they both knew the brotherly love was mutual.
“So I was thinking,” his brother starts, Yoongi purses his lips, he knew that whatever his brother were to say next would be a bad idea. All of his brother’s bad ideas started like this, “Of going out to a neighboring empire, for business.” Yoongi raises an eyebrow, this wasn’t a bad idea at all, in fact he had gone on business trips all the time. What made this trip any different than the others to where his brother had to mention it to him? “Okay? I hope it goes well?” Yoongi replies before returning to the book on his lap.
It was a murder mystery book, Yoongi had long forgotten the title but he often did due to the never ending books he read. Murder mystery -this soon became a foreshadowing for what his brother said next- “Thanks.. But it’s not just any business trip.” Yoongi lets out a short ‘hm?’ to let his brother know that he was still listening. He could see his brother fiddling with the ends of his clothes out of the corners of his peripheral view, “It’s uhm the Empire of Vaeni..” Yoongi’s eyes widen as he shuts his book, not caring that he forgot to place his bookmark -It was a beautiful, golden bookmark given to him by his brother on his seventeenth birthday. It looked similar to the golden crowned prince next to him- in between the fresh pages, “No.” Yoongi starts, squinting his eyes towards his older brother who is now looking at his shoes, “Seokjin, have you gone mad? Our empire is financially stable, there’s no reason to do something so dangerous!” Yoongi’s voice raises with every word.
The Vaenian Empire itself was not dangerous, in fact, they were great friends of the Astedian Empire. However, the two empires couldn’t keep in touch for a decade. The reason was simple, there was no way to keep in touch when the only way they could became dangerous. The two empires were separated by the deadly oceans. Not a single person had survived the waters, how the hell did his brother think this was even a remotely good idea?
His brother looks back up at Yoongi, clear distress in his eyes, “Yoongi, there’s no other way, we have to get back in touch with them.” Yoongi begins to fume, now he definitely could sense that his brother was hiding something, “Spit it out.” Yoongi was usually not this rude to his older brother, he never had a reason to, but he couldn’t help it, how could he not be mad that his brother was practically signing not only his life away but everyone else in the Astedian Empire. Seokjin was the next emperor of the Astedian Empire, if he dies then the fall of this empire would be soon to follow. Especially when his father was ill and Seokjin was the one currently handling the empire. Seokjin was keeping this empire safe and keeping everything up, and now he just wants to do what? “Fucking hell Seokjin..” Yoongi starts, already feeling a headache coming, “You better drop this idea, I love being supportive of you, but this is something I just can’t support.”
Seokjin sighes, “I knew you wouldn’t be..” he says with a defeated tone, Yoongi relaxes, glad that Seokjin would drop it. But Yoongi didn’t expect him to pick it right back up, “Which is why I prepared everything in advance.” Yoongi stands up alarmed, “WHAT THE HELL?” Yoongi definitely had a headache now, “I know you’re the heir and all that but you think the fucking ocean is gonna stop killing because the crowned prince is at sea???” Yoongi begins to pace, and starts to talk in a mocking tone, “Oh I’m the ocean! Look over there! Is that the crown prince of the Empire of Astedia?? Well. What a fucking honor to see him here! I guess we’ll ignore the thing we’ve been doing for a decade and stop killing because that’s totally a fucking normal thing nature does!!!-”
Seokjin finally stands and places his hands gently on Yoongi’s shoulders, “Listen, I understand how it sounds stupid, I get it,” Seokjin lets Yoongi’s head drop to lean on his shoulder, “Unfortunatly, Astedia is being threatened by a neighboring empire and the only empire we know that can stop them is..” Yoongi lifts his head up from his brother’s shoulder, “Vaeni.” Yoongi finishes Seokjin's sentence as his brother grimly nods, “There has to be another way, you know going to Vaeni is impossible.”
“I think.. I found a way.” Yoongi groans, “Maybe you should’ve started with this?” Seokjin simply lets out a genuine laugh, “Your mock of the ocean was too funny, how could I stop you?” Yoongi gave him an unimpressed look, “Besides, I don’t know 100% if it will work.” Yoongi decides then and there that Seokjin was great at giving others stress, “Jesus, can’t you make someone else attempt it first then?” Yoongi definitely didn’t like the idea of sacrificing someone to save someone else but it was either one person’s death or the death of an entire empire. Unfortunately, Seokjin doesn’t think the same as Yoongi, “First off, my name is Seokjin and not Jesus… Who is Jesus? And second, You know me well enough to know I would never risk someone else’s life to guarantee the survival of my life.” Yoongi rolled his eyes, his brother is an amazing ruler but sometimes he failed to see the bigger picture. “Brother, think about it, it’s either one person or the rest of us in this empire that depend on you. It’s not just your life, we need you to even stand.” Seokjin looks down, processing what Yoongi had said, if Seokjin was anyone but the heir to the throne his plan wouldn’t be as serious. Of course, every life was valued here, but this was an entirely different thing. “You could even try your little plan with one of those fuckers in prison! Murderers! Criminals! People who are already sentenced to life in prison! Seokjin, it doesn’t have to be you!” Yoongi begins to crumble when Seokjin finally looks back up. The expression on the older’s face ended the conversation. It was obvious that there was no use in trying to talk sense into him, Seokjin had already decided.
“Promise me you’ll be safe?” Yoongi mumbles softly, Seokjin only gives him a sad smile and a short “I promise” before leaving the library. Yoongi felt lonely in the library, and it wouldn’t be the last time he felt this way.
---
Yoongi did not leave the library that day. He refused to go down to the docks to meet his brother. Yoongi never said goodbye or see you soon to Seokjin whenever he went on a business trip, and his brother always came back with a smile. He feared that if he changed his usual, it would change the outcome of his brother’s trip.
Yoongi wanted to believe that his brother would live, but it was tough to believe when it had been a decade since anyone had survived the oceans.
As the second son Yoongi had no power, all he could do that night was pray to any and every god and goddess that came to his head. It was all he could do, Yoongi had never felt so useless until this very night.
---
One Year Later
It had been a year since Seokjin had left the Empire in Yoongi’s hands. The counsel and nobles had helped him the entire year and Yoongi had fortunately gotten a solid grasp at ruling. He thanked the never ending amount of books he had read, as they had provided him with more knowledge than most. That knowledge he had once seen as useless but fun to remember had surprisingly helped him solve problems as ruler.
His father had passed three months ago, the illness he had caught had beaten him in the end. His father fought well, but not long enough to see his eldest son again. Leaving Yoongi as the new emperor.
When the Astedian common folk had finally gotten the news that the new emperor was Yoongi, they panicked. Yoongi was not hated by the people, but if they could pick their ruler they would obviously pick Seokjin, and Yoongi would too.
Seokjin’s business trips usually lasted a long time, and before the oceans became dangerous, it was common that traveling by sea had taken a long time. But Vaeni was not far. In fact, Seokjin should have been back six months ago. A trip there and back (hell, even including a long vacation at the place) for somewhere as close as Vaeni would take six months max.
Yoongi was not one to give up easily, but it was obvious that his brother did not make it.
---
Yoongi often found himself near the docks; those who worked at the docks were always hyper aware of the emperor’s presence. The time he had spent in the library only filled him with grief, for it was the place Yoongi cowardly hermitted himself up in when Seokjin had left. Yoongi saw how old the docks were when he first came here, the docks were no longer used so it would obviously not be in its best shape. His silk clothes full of intricate designs had never matched the rest of the worn down docks, he had assumed Seokjin had felt the same.
When the news of Yoongi visiting the docks spread (It has spread like wildfire before, but nobody had actually believed it until now) people began to pity the new emperor. It was considered shameful by the nobles that Yoongi had let the emperor position become something common folk had pitied. However, Yoongi couldn’t care less, he just wanted to see his brother’s boat to appear from the distant fog, he just wanted to see his brother step back into his home with a careless smile on his face telling Yoongi that he had returned. Yoongi wanted to believe that Seokjin was safe, that he had just forgotten the way to Vaeni since it had been so long since a journey there had been made. But Yoongi nor Seokjin were fools, Yoongi knew that Seokjin wasn’t one to go out on a trip unless he had a solid, direct path there.
Still, Yoongi stands alone at the dock during his limited free time and the rest holding Seokjin’s emperor position so that Seokjin could come back and easily take over.
Still, every night, Yoongi prays to everyone he can think of to save his brother. Old habits never die, and it’s clearly the case with the crumpled up form of a man who misses his brother.
---
It was another day without the return of his brother, however today was different. Yoongi had more tasks to do today and ended up watching the sea near the docks at a later time. The moon was out and the soft glow covered the empire, not as bright as the sun but it was a nice change. But that wasn’t the only change that happened, the lonely emperor would be greeted by a surprising guest.
He wasn’t looking at the time to tell when this strange event occurred but from what he could gather, it was late and not early into the sunrise since the deep midnight blue continued to plague the sky. It was odd at first, Yoongi’s eyes had to adjust to the glowing figure that was leaving the waters. The only light source he had before this figure was the moonlight and the lantern in his hand that was slowly running out of fuel.
Yoongi was more than terrified of what came out of sea, it was nothing like anything he had seen or read about in his copious amount of books. Sure he was terrified, but the possibilities of who.. No what this glowing figure was and their purpose of meeting him. Perhaps this glowing figure was the cause of deaths at sea or maybe it was an aftermath of the deaths at sea. Or if he squinted enough maybe it was his brother finally returning.
… He also had a thought that perhaps it was just a shark that was jumping out to eat him…
It was clear he hadn’t read many books on sea creatures.
The glow surrounding the figure slowly starts to dim, Yoongi can see that it is no human. The moon-like, pearly glow still surrounded the creature, but not bright enough to blind him. It almost looked like a standing (but hunched) wolf, but as it got closer, Yoongi could see the white, fish-like scales that clung to the creature. There were no gills to indicate that it had been living under the water, but what was Yoongi to believe when it had just survived the ocean and walked out fine.
The creature finally stops around two feet away from the almost-small-in-comparison emperor. “I,” the creature starts, their voice was grimey and Yoongi had not expected it to talk, “am..” it was clear that while they could speak, they struggled, “what you humans call, a water gumiho.” Yoongi’s eyes widened as he stared, staring is considered rude but he couldn’t help it. He had never encountered a water gumiho. “Hello, I am Yoongi..” Yoongi couldn’t tell with its snout in the way, but he had thought he had seen the water gumiho smile, “Yes, the emperor..” All Yoongi could do was nod, “No human has ever seen me.. So I do not have an official name from your kind… So I used a creature closest to mine..” Yoongi nodded again, no wonder he had never heard of a water gumiho. He was confused however, why would they decide to allow Yoongi to see them as the first human (he was also too overwhelmed and somehow accepted the creature quickly.. It had just appeared in front of Yoongi after all, it would be foolish to not even after seeing it with someone’s own eyes). “I cannot say my true name, only my master can, but she cannot currently… in danger…” The creature turns their head to look in the direction of the sea, “Yoongi… help my master come back to life..” Yoongi could only stare as he began to think, now he knew what the creature was here for, “Why me?” was all he could ask.
“Your brother..” Yoongi perks up, “is the reason I awoke…” he instantly felt red creep up, did this creature kill his brother? The creature shakes its head in a ‘no’ fashion, allowing its white scales that shone like opal to glimmer, “My master and I were cursed to a death-like slumber.. After 500,000 human deaths at sea, can I awake.. I was not the cause of the deaths at sea… Poseidon is the cause…” Yoongi looks down, remembering all the times he had foolishly prayed to Poseidon to end the deaths at sea and to keep his brother safe… only to find out that he was the cause. “He…” the creature continues, “has cursed (Y/n)...” (Y/n) is the deity of deaths at sea, the puzzle pieces were finally putting themselves together. Since the deity that controls the deaths at sea isn’t, well, controlling the sea, all the deaths would get out of hand. Which means, the deity had been asleep for ten years. “I understand, but how would this make my brother the reason for your awakening? You had mentioned 500,000 deaths..” And as far as Yoongi knew, his brother was not 500,000 people. “He wore a cursed item to sea, that would hold the number of people that loved the wearer of the necklace… It will not kill the people that love the wearer, but it will kill the wearer and that number has gone down to me…”
Yoongi freezes at this, this could only mean that his brother knew about the deity’s curse and that he would definitely die. Seokjin sacrificed himself because he knew that he was the only one that could. Yoongi could feel the tears prick his eyes, barely managing to escape. He felt upset that Seokjin hid this from him, he knew Seokjin wasn’t going on a business trip, especially so when he got into rule and found out there was no threat from a neighboring empire. Yoongi remembered vividly back when his father had looked at him in confusion when he had mentioned an upcoming war. This is exactly what Seokjin was hiding. “Your brother sacrificed himself to protect others, however, it seems he had missed the last part…” Yoongi kept his mouth shut, he wanted to blame Poseidon for killing his brother, he wanted to blame the deities above for putting people in this ridiculous situation like it was a game. “.. Emperor.. Will you help your brother to put an end to this?” But, no matter who he blamed, he knew that he would only blame himself if he didn’t finish what his brother ended his life for.
Yoongi agrees to help.
---
The creature had lended Yoongi their back, the creature had told Yoongi that as long as he was near the creature he would not die underwater. Yoongi felt foolish to blindly trust the creature, for it could be full of hidden, evil intentions. It brought him back to past memories of him calling his brother ridiculous for walking into death’s hands when he had an entire empire to rule over. Seokjin had Yoongi, but now who would rule if Yoongi were to die? Yoongi had no one except the power hungry nobles back at the empire.
Even after thinking it over, Yoongi knew exactly what he had to do, and that was to ride the back of the creature who is now walking into the water.
When Yoongi reopens his eyes, he notices that he is completely submerged by the water. It was something he hadn’t noticed when his eyes were closed because he could still breathe. However, there wasn’t much to observe under the waters, when he was young he recalled a beautiful, clear sea full of colorful wildlife. But after the deaths at sea had begun, people threw waste into the waters out of spite. Some wanted to save the waters, saying nothing good would come out of provoking the waters. However, with the inability to go into the water, those people were unable to clean up the mess others had made. Barely any wildlife could be seen in the now murky waters.
The waters killed humans and humans killed the ocean life.
---
Yoongi barely noticed the creature coming to the stop as his eyes still wandered around curiously. At first, there was nothing much to observe, but as they got closer to what Yoongi assumed was where the deity rested, there was much to observe. Tall, broken pillars surrounded a large area full of lively coral, it was obvious some form of supernatural power kept this area safe from the wastes. Fish that he knew the names of and fish he wouldn’t even see in his wildest imaginations could be seen, the fish were careful to avoid the creature’s path but didn’t seem scared.
When the creature comes to a stop, it signals Yoongi to hop off. “What you must do is almost trivial.” Yoongi comes face to face with a giant bubble, one that is similar to the one around his head - he assumed that it was what helped him breathe. Inside the bubble is a figure, who closely resembles a human, minus the opal-like scales adorned around their eyes and other random scaly patches. They floated in the middle of the bubble, as if they were in water. But seeing as his bubble was full of air, he could only guess that hers was too. She looked to be peacefully sleeping -and in classic deity fashion- she was wearing a white, flowy dress. The scenery around her had only added her never ending beauty, the colorful coral helped the woman in the center stand out more.
Finally, Yoongi turns back to the creature who had similar opal scales, “What is it that I have to do?”. The creature -now facing the giant bubble- speaks as if they aren’t in water, “All you have to do.. Pop the bubble..” Yoongi raises an eyebrow, this was indeed very trivial. “Why does it have to be me then? Couldn’t you pop the bubble as well?” The creature looks at Yoongi, pity clearly in their eyes. “The person who made the final sacrifice.. Needs the person they love most..” Yoongi freezes, “..You must stab through them and into the bubble.”
Yoongi curses to himself, “fuck.. You're telling me to stab my brother’s dead body into the bubble? And it just HAS to be me because he loves me the most?!” What kind of bullshit is this? Yoongi curses inside, as if his brother’s death wasn’t painful enough, they were forcing him to stab into his brother’s dead body that has been rotting for a year.
“Fuck this, there is no way I’m doing that! Don’t even think about bringing my brother’s dead body into this! Just let him rest in peace, Jesus Christ! You gods or whatever the fuck have problems- Go get therapy!”
When the creature said what he had to do was trivial, he wasn’t expecting anything like this, he was expecting something like saying a tongue twisting spell that the creature would have difficulty saying.
“Your brother, is not at peace” Yoongi looks at the creature, his eye starts to twitch, “Didn’t he make a great sacrifice for your gods? Why isn’t he at peace?” “His soul is trapped here, in the bubble.” Yoongi groans, the souls of those who died -including his brother- were trapped in the bubble where the deity rests.
“Apologies for not explaining further, your brother’s body is not rotting, it is preserved.. In the coral. All dead bodies are in the coral, preserved, waiting to wake.” Yoongi’s heart begins to race, there was a chance that he would see his brother again.. see his ALIVE brother again. “You will have to stab your brother’s unconscious body, but it will be with a special spear that took me a year to find.. Which is why I could not go to you immediately a year before.. You will not harm your brother.” Finally understanding, Yoongi nods, “Fine, I agree. But before that..” Yoongi looks up and shouts, “FUCK YOU POSEIDON!!” He huffs and turns back to the creature, “Okay, I’m ready.”
The creature turns and walks away, only to come back with a spear in its mouth. It was a similar pearly white to its scales. “I’m gonna assume this is your magic spear?” The creature nods and Yoongi takes it out of the creature’s mouth. Yoongi sighes, his heart still racing, “Alright, where’s my brother’s not dead body?...” Yoongi doesn’t miss a beat, whispering right after, “this is so fucked up..” The creature only nods over to the bubble, where a coral is ripped out of the ground and floats to the front of the bubble. The beautiful, golden coral reminds him of his golden bookmark. It slowly begins to crack and reveal his brother.
Yoongi couldn’t stop the tears that had escaped his eyes. “This is fine, I just gotta close my eyes and stab MY UNCONSCIOUS BROTHER.” The creature doesn’t say anything next to him, not only did his people pity him, but now a scaly wolf too.
Slowly, Yoongi approaches his brother, the tears in his eyes makes his vision blurry - but the fact that he could barely see his brother is probably a good thing. Yoongi decides to make this fast, the less he thinks about it, the better. Yoongi takes a deep breath and stabs his brother as well as the bubble behind Seokjin.
Yoongi wipes his tears, the bubble around him pops at the same time the bigger bubble did. Yoongi was forced to hold his breath, he could barely see. But he attempts to keep his eyes open underwater, forgetting about how gross sea water probably is -oh god, and the saltiness of the water.
From what he could see, his brother begins to move as the spear disappears. Thankfully, there was no blood coming from his brother. The last thing he sees is the face of the once sleeping deity as he passes out from the lack of air.
---
When Yoongi reawakes, he is back in his comfortable bed. Yoongi breaks into tears, it was all a dream. He decides that he just misses his brother to the point where he even dreams about his brother coming back to life. Yoongi couldn’t take it anymore. Quickly he shoves his blankets to the side and rushes out of the palace. He couldn’t care less that he isn’t in formal, public attire and rather in his night wear.
Completely ignoring the stares, he rushes to the docks.
---
When he reached the docks, he wasn’t expecting to see anything. But his dream felt too real. As Yoongi reaches a full stop, he holds onto the nearest wall to catch his breath.
As expected, the docks were completely empty.
Except for a familiar, broad shouldered figure who has his back facing Yoongi.
“BROTHER!” Yoongi shouts out, he begins to run again.
The figure turns around to reveal his brother, who has the same careless smile that Yoongi vividly remembers.
The two embrace, Yoongi could care less that Seokjin was drenched in sea water, “See, I told you I would return.” Yoongi doesn’t stop hugging Seokjin, “Shut up, I practically saved you! What the hell Seokjin! Don’t ever pull this kind of shit again!” Seokjin only manages to throw his head back and laugh, “I don’t think this situation will ever happen again, but I’ll keep that in mind!” Yoongi lets go of Seokjin, Yoongi is pissed at Seokjin, but they both knew that even after a year, Yoongi could never stay mad at his brother. Yoongi only lets out a whisper, “I missed you” which makes Seokjin softly smile, “I would say the same but I was completely unconscious for a year so..” Yoongi jokingly punches his brother, “Come on, let’s go home.”
-----
“So. That’s who woke me up?” You start, Nalu only nods. You let out a hum and sit back into the giant clam. You had woken up only a few days ago, but you already had so much to do. The first couple of days were spent organizing those who had died the past decade from Poseidon’s stupid curse. Poseidon had cursed you a decade ago, that guy had some serious problems. The gods above were always ridiculously petty when it came to romance. They always wanted to fuck anyone they could get in their hands. When you had denied Poseidon’s advances, he cursed you in blind rage, completely forgetting the consequences of doing so. Just because you were a deity and not a god didn’t mean the job you have is small. He let thousands die because he couldn’t get laid.
“Petty asshole..” You mumble and Nalu only laughs. Nalu has been your trusty sidekick since the start. He had been an ordinary wolf when you had first met him, but the hidden desire in him was the reason why you had turned him into what he is today. Your shiny, scaled hand reaches over and pets his similar scaled back. Nalu, who is basically still a giant wolf, leans into your touch.
“I suppose it’s time to pay my savior a visit, hm?”
---
You always remembered the Astedian Empire to be beautiful, and even after a decade, the place was still just as beautiful as you had remembered. But now that the crowned prince who was assumed to be dead has returned, it was even more lively than before. The streets were crowded with people celebrating. While you did cover your scales and natural, soft glow to appear human, your white dress and general deity beauty made you stand out. However, in your eyes, someone else had stood out more.
Yoongi.
You could see a gummy smile on his face as he watched his brother greet excited citizens.
While in theory, Seokjin had also helped you escape the curse, for some odd reason you couldn’t take your eyes off the selfless prince next to Seokjin. You had heard that Yoongi stepped down from the throne and practically forced his brother to be emperor. Something that was completely unheard of, especially for royals who were known to be power hungry and selfish.
Yoongi’s eyes suddenly were staring back at you, making him freeze. You thought he wouldn’t notice you, but here you were, smiling at him. Quickly, you mouth a ‘thank you’ and turn to walk away. It was too crowded to give him a proper thank you, you could always come back later.
---
It was now night time, the balcony you stood on let you get a beautiful view of the Astedian Empire. Some buildings still had their lights on, but for the most part, it was quiet and dark. Quiet enough for you to hear the soft steps behind you. You don’t turn around, letting the steps get closer and soon next to you.
“Thank you for breaking the curse.” You start, but in classic Yoongi fashion, he redirects the thank you, “It was all thanks to my brother, I practically did nothing.” You only hum, knowing that Yoongi would probably never accept the thank you, even if you tried. You turned to him, he was already looking in your direction, “I’m sorry for the difficulty I’ve caused Seokjin, the rest of the Astedian Empire- actually the rest of the world, and especially you.” Yoongi just shakes his head, stopping you from fully explaining, “I know it wasn’t your fault, your uh- creature explained something about Poseidon.” You nod, calling Nalu by his real name would mean that you have full control over him, so you don’t correct him calling Nalu a creature.
“Well, either way, I just wanted to say thank you. If you ever need anything please go to any ocean and whisper your wishes. I will do anything in my power to fulfill your wish.” When you see Yoongi slowly nod, you turn to leave. But Yoongi quickly grabs your arm, stopping you from walking away. “Um, when can I see you again?” You turn to him and he quickly lets go of your arm, mumbling a quick sorry, “Only the gods know when.” You start teasingly. Yoongi lets out a huff, “Well not just the gods know, I do too. Will you visit me tomorrow?” You tilt your head and smile at his hopeful eyes, “Is that your wish?” Yoongi just smiles, “Sure, if it means I can see you tomorrow.” You shake your head at him, both of you still have a smile on your faces.
“Your wish is my command.”
You walk back towards him and place your hand on his cheek. When you finally walk away, Yoongi is left on the balcony with tinted cheeks and a kiss mark on his other cheek - as a seal to your promise… no other meanings, right?

God this took forever to write! (even though it’s only 6k words…) I had such a good time writing this and I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! Honestly, when I first started this, I was expecting to write more romance between the two - but I got just a LITTLE too invested in world building… and brotherly love.
However, I still can’t get over this so if you ever want to send me requests for this fic like “ask [insert character of your choice] anything” or a situation/mini story plot, please send it to me! I would love to write more about these two… or even about Emperor Seokjin hahah-
I will be writing more about this story later under the hashtag #DrOWNBAD so feel free to check it out!
