Coming to terms || Kaminari & Aizawa (vampire!au)

Send in a ❣ for a random kiss.
a happy kiss.
It had been…a hard year with Kaminari. Teaching him how to be his new self and how to handle his emotions had been a roller coaster. Not to mention the 3 months it took letting him grieve for his life and his family. Aizawa had felt all of it. However, it had all been leading to the moment when he could safely say that Kaminari would be fine going out by himself. It was pretty exciting, to say the least, and the vampire was glad that, despite their hiccups, Kaminari had made some stunning progress in self control.
And now, it seemed that his blond ward was experiencing happiness. An emotion that Aizawa was glad to share. Though, as he approached him and leaned down. Without even thinking, Aizawa kissed Kaminari on the top of his head, ruffling his spiky hair as he passed. “What are you so excited about?”
Coming to terms with his new lifestyle had been challenging. There were times he wished he was dead. There were times he wished he could go back home to his family. Those times were the hardest. He still missed his mom and could easily burst into tears if he was allowed to think about her for too long, but things were getting easier. His greatest struggle was with self control. A vampire’s natural instinct was to feed off of humans. And as they walked around with their beating hearts and pulsing blood, it had been extremely difficult to learn not to chase the living down alleys. Blood bags weren’t as fun.
It was a long year. Even so, it went by in a flash. He supposed he should get used to that by now, just as he had gotten used to listening to what his new guardian had to say, and all the obnoxious rules that came with being a vampire in the world as it was now. He was never even allowed out on his own. He always needed to stay by his side. He’d gotten used to that too-- Aizawa’s presence. It was almost comforting at times.
But now, he was being given permission to go out by himself. It had been a while since he’d left the house. The last time they’d gone out, Kaminari nearly lost control due to his own rampant hunger.
He’d grown a lot since then. Today he reflected on all of that and tried not to linger on the sad bits of life as he once knew it.
He was content and the warm feeling only grew as his mentor approached him to press a gentle kiss to his head before ruffling his hair.
Laughing softly, he made sure to fix his hair as soon as Aizawa lifted his hand.
“I don’t know. Getting to go out on my own? Progress? It’s just a good day today.” he shrugged, grinning sheepishly.
