are you gonna tell me what really happened, gojo?
PROMPTS FOR THE ONE WHO QUESTIONS EVERYTHING : accepting!
“There’s nothing to tell. I was dead and then I wasn’t. I figured out how to do it – what you do, reverse cursed technique, I guess.”
Satoru’s eyes don’t meet Shoko’s as he speaks and recounts the events of his first death. He shouldn’t have come back from that, but here he was, standing there talking to her, scarcely able to put it into words. He’s a dead man walking. A zombie with the strength of the world if anyone could believe it, though what does all that strength amount to if you can only save yourself?
He takes a seat across from her and maintains his averted gaze, bringing his hand up to his mouth to nip at his thumb.
He doesn’t expect Shoko to understand – let alone anyone, really, but… shutting people out has done him so many favors – has done Suguru favors. When he looks up again and sees Shoko’s eyes fixed on him, he tries to relax. It’s doing her a ton of favors right now.
She’s one of his best friends, too, he remembers. He can’t keep shutting her out like this, not when she’s trying.
“There’s nothing when you die, by the way. It’s all black and cold.” It’s supposed to be a joke, but his delivery is dry. “Cold, sticky and dark.”
