The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Pain is highly prevalent in the cancer population. Opioid therapy is the first-line approach for moderate or severe chronic cancer pain. While opioids are effective analgesics, they are potentially abusable drugs.
