Near the village of Ilton in North Yorkshire is the Druids' Temple, a replica of Stonehenge built in about 1800 by William Danby of nearby Swinton Park. During a time of agricultural depression and high unemployment, Danby hired local men to construct a moderately large-scale replica of Stonehenge, working at a full shilling a day. The result is a folly of national reputation. He was less successful in hiring a silent druidic hermit to fulfill a seven-year contract, though several tried, for the promised annuity

Persistence of Form: Every entity persists in its mode until acted upon by a stronger cause. Nothing chooses to continue; persistence is its essence. Desire, instinct, will, are all the local names of this persistence.

Conservation of Dependency. To exist is to depend. Every effect has antecedent causes; every autonomy is relational. Isolation is a perceptual illusion; systems sustain systems.

Energy of Negation. What resists or refuses also acts. Decay, refusal, entropy aren’t failures of life but its counterbalancing motion, converting excess form back into potential.

Law of Asymmetry. Systems never return to the same state. Every repetition slightly deforms. This irreversibility. Time makes learning and aging possible but guarantees loss.

Principle of Exchange. Nothing comes without cost. Every order requires disorder elsewhere. Life’s elegance is paid for by heat, waste, misunderstanding and killing.

Autonomy Threshold. An entity remains free only while it can transform incoming forces faster than they deform it. Once adaptation lags behind intrusion, it becomes dominated. This is the physics of all tyranny internal or external.

Existence has no moral preference. It’s a thermodynamic circuit. Those who mistake persistence for meaning end up worshipping the machinery rather than understanding it.
