I ordered myself a new spinning wheel to celebrate actually having a little bit of money for the first time since my PIP was stopped almost 2 years ago.

I didn't end up getting the one that would need painting. I was able to afford a slightly better one that should be a good ergonomic fit. That's the main reason for getting a new wheel in the first place. My current wheel is a pretty old Louet S15 with one treadle. It works great, but the single treadle makes me sit a bit crooked, which is hard on my hips and SI joints.

I ordered a Kromski Sonata. It's double treadle with wide spacing between them. I'm excited to get it and try it out. I may also buy the magnetic flyer kit for it because those look very cool.

I'm still looking for a drum carder. It's been hard to find any that aren't ridiculously expensive, so I'm probably sticking with my homemade blending board a while longer.

You know, I might be turning into a 90tpi as my standard carding cloth convert. I’ve been on the 72tpi train for a while but 90tpi is pretty nice 👀

Here is the difference between blending board cloth and regular carding cloth:

After extensive research and development, Howard Brush came up with a combination of variables that were the ideal makeup for a cloth used specifically on a blending board. Blending cloth has longer teeth, a different, more open tooth pattern, and the finish on the tip of the wire is such that it is less likely to hurt your hand since there is so much more contact using a blending board than hand or drum carders. Regular carding cloth has a shorter tooth in comparison to blending cloth, a more closed tooth pattern, and the finish on the tip is a bit more aggressive. The special fabrication and design of blending cloth makes it ideal for handling a spectrum of materials; normal fleeces, and not so normal fun additives; feathers, bits of cloth, etc. On top of that, the makeup of the tooth itself is best suited for the process of evenly blending, and uniformly removing. Technically the cloth measures at 72 TPI, but it isn't advertised as such, because it isn't the important variable in its functionality.
