Billy was so damn tired of people trying to get into his head. Or at least, what he felt was like a probe to something deeper. He had nothing to offer these motherfuckers. What could he have possibly cared about? In truth, there was a whole lot. What would people think of him if they knew the truth?

Billy didn't necessarily care about their opinions but he knew if he felt a tinge of pity or sympathy for his situation it would eat him alive. It would turn his insides raw pushing him to remind those around him he was fine, he was strong, he didn't need their damn pity. In the end, he only cared about himself. It was all he could afford to really care about. Any other energy was spent elsewhere. "And I think you're full of shit and don't know what you're fucking talking about." Pricked around the edges 'cause the very last thing he needed was to care about any of this bullshit.
